Friendly Muslims
The American Thinker ^ | December 23, 2006 | A. M. Mora y Leon

Anyone who's traveled in Malaysia and Indonesia can testify to the friendly, open-minded character of most of the citizens. Every nation has a legend, and in Malaysia there's one an American traveler might encounter it. It goes something like this:

"We have made it. We beat colonialism, we beat nationalism, we beat war, we beat poverty, we beat the Asian crisis ... let's show you around and make money together."

In Indonesia, there's a less obvious directionality than one might notice among the Malaysians, and an American encounters more of a sort of national theme of delight and wonder:

"You American, you have come so far... we admire you. Here's our beautiful country, we're pleased you like it, we want to share it some more... so let's get to know each other."

> An interesting article about Muslims in Indonesia and Malaysia but I don't know how accurate it is.

In a thread several years ago a Freeper said, "Indonesia is 5000 islands with nothing in common except its currency and a hatred of everything Dutch and Christian." Considering the Bali bombings of 02 and 05, and the fact that Bashir is now a free man, I think he was right.

Then maybe you could explain why in the last election in Indonesia and Malaysia the islamist parties lot by an overwhelming margin.

Directionality? Sounds like a word out of a propaganda school. Anyone who uses such a word is not to be trusted.

Elections don't mean much to them. What they fail to accomplish at the ballot box, they will attempt through indoctrination, intimidation, and violence.

They expected to win. And the People kicked their asses out. So it appears that they don't buy into the hate rhetoric the jihadist spew out.
Sounds to me like these Muslims don't but into this either..
"Not very accurate. It is propaganda, just what they want you to believe. If you think they don't know how to use propaganda, just check out the product of ther schools where they teach hate, suicide bombing, and second class citizebship for anyone but Muslim males."

What you are telling me gives me some hope. Aren't there a lot of Buddhists and other religions in those countries?

Just read your page. I like Thomas Paine and have used his quotes many times.

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not say everything happy happy joy joy. Lots of poverty, corruption, Wahhabi Mosques...etc
But my point is all is not doom and gloom, not all Mulsims want to kill us (not even close to all), or that all is sweetness and light inside islam.

Malaysian Muslims clearly think they are superior to infidels, from what I observed. I worked and went to school with them.

The list goes on - in essence, Malaysia is tolerable for Dhimmis - if you don't mind being a second class citizen, paying more and getting less.

As I learned from a Malaysian Chinese friend, her people are resented for their virtues, and in return, the Chinese hold the Malays in contempt as uncouth, lazy, dirty peasants.

It would be a mistake trusting them. They may be jovial at the moment. Long term, who knows?

Friendly Muslims = oxymoron

FWIW -- only a minority of the Muslims studying at American universities are befriended by Christian American families. It is a surprise to these sharp young people to learn that, contrary to Hollywood's message, we also love God and family. We would do well to "adopt" these people who are away from home and lonely. God can still work miracles, if we'll step out of our comfort zone.

My prayer is for thousands of home-school families in this country to take on specific Muslim countries as family projects, getting to know their people and languages. For example, around 150 Million people speak some form of Turkish. So why bother studying French, let alone Latin?

How many or what percent or which ones in particular love us, hate us or are indifferent to us wont mean squat until we get that secret "friend or foe" wand that will accurately divine intentions with a single pass over an individuals head.

Until then, every single one of them that's not standing up, actively and aggressively for us, are by default standing against us.

That's how it has always been and how it will always be. Islam is at war with us and will be until either it or us are obliterated or forced into submission.

But, you probably know that already.
