Remember back when Rick Warren was adamantly denying that his inviting Barack Obama to his HIV conference had anything to do with politics?
Well - if that's the case - why is it that he's now TALKING POLITICS on CNN and sending the message that "Obama's Da Man"?

Seems to me McCullough has an obsession with Mr. Warren. These two gentlemen should get a room.

i think Jesus really had it right. Money is the root of all evil.....something must happen when the money (and fame) starts pouring in. maybe it is easier to sell out. he's not alone. i loved david t. moore too--still do. but he seemed to get carried away with fame and got into some really wierd things for a preacher.
Well, if you are going to disparage and hate a man who appreciates honesty even if it is something he disagrees with, then you are going to be lonely and mistaken.
The author of this piece distorted what was actually said. Few bothered to read what was actually said. Consequently, they spoke from ignorance and agreed with the author's dislike of Reverend Warren.

Well, now you have gone and said it. I believe that you cannot in good conscience be a liberal and also at the same time be a practicing Christian. The two are complete opposites. I know no liberals who are against abortion. It is part of the liberal doctrine to be for choice and kill babies and embryonic stem cells and for that matter, kill anyone else who gets in your way of being who you are.
Jesus had it right, but you've got the verse wrong.
I Timothy 6:10 says "For the love of money is the root of all evil..."
Money is not evil in and of itself, but loving it will lead to all sorts of errors in judgement. Rick Warren seems to live a frugal life. I think he loves the fame and adulation more than the money.

. . .stuff, like charm? Surely not 'stuff' like genuine political knowledge that morphs into a body of political wisdom; and not 'stuff' like an experienced maturity to deal with kind of decisions that a nation's President and a world leader must consider and make.
Who would be his Cabinet? Who would he choose as his Advisors? Shudder to even think of this scenario. . .and shudder more; hearing people like Warren and our unfortunate, silver-tonged, Obama-cheering media, attempt to make this even sound plausible. . .much less, a 'worthy consideration'. . .
This is more than discouraging; Rick Warren is beginning to sound like a 'personified Peter Principle'. . .
Obama has the 'stuff' alright; he could probably take over Rick Warren's Pastoral job; write books as well; and in a heartbeat.
Have a feeling that Rick might think Obama not quite ready or mature enough to lead an entire community in Faith. . .and probably recommend that he wait a few years; to insure his readiness for such an important job.
But I think Obama IS ready to 'preach' and minister; in fact, I think that is his real calling; and I hope soon he hears it; and responds enthusiastically; and with great humility.
To that I can say enthusiastically . . .go Obama. . .(just) GO!. . .

I read this article by Kevin McCullough. I must have missed the part about people leaving Reverend Warren's church over having Obama speak.
I do know that Kevin minimized the reason Obama was there--AIDS effort. He also failed to mention who also was there--Senator Brownback. And he also forgot to mention he detests Senator Obama and demands that Reverend Warren do likewise by not fraternizing with him in any way.
I believe this is Kevin McCullough's problem more than Reverend Warren's.
I do not belong to Reverend Warren's church or denomination but I agree with one thing he says--it is time to put "civil" back into civility and civilized discourse and debate.
Presumably some on this thread dislike the term "civil." So I move on to where civility is more common.

I, for one, do NOT see Obama as a person who will "tell you the truth - not just beat around the bush - and tell you what they believe.Obama has NOT come clean with people in what he believes and supports.
