Raped in Oslo
Brussels Journal ^ | 13 December 2006 | Paul Belien

Posted on 12/17/2006 3:49:44 PM PST by shrinkermd

Norway’s Minister of Justice from 2001 to 2005, Odd Einar Dørum, mentioned the problem in 2001 but has later gone quiet about the issue. The reported number of rapes in Oslo is now six – 6! – times as high per capita as in New York City, yet the media keeps warning against Islamophobia.

According to Aftenposten, the clinic (voldtektsmottak) at the emergency hospital known as Legevakt has never had so many rape victims to treat. Its ability to care for them all is being severely tested. The number of reported rapes has skyrocketed this year.

Two out of three charged with rape in Norway’s capital are immigrants with a non-western background according to a police study. The number of rape cases is also rising steadily. Unni Wikan, a professor of social anthropology at the University of Oslo, in 2001 said that “Norwegian women must take their share of responsibility for these rapes” because Muslim men found their manner of dress provocative. The professor’s conclusion was not that Muslim men living in the West needed to adjust to Western norms, but the exact opposite: “Norwegian women must realize that we live in a Multicultural society and adapt themselves to it.”

Rape is only about one thing: A man full of natural sexual lust decides that he doesn't want to be constrained by the laws of civilized society or even by common decency and would prefer to live like an animal commits a rape. It has nothing to do with the woman, he's just selfishly satisfying his sexual desires without regard to whom he hurts in the process.

An interesting perspective. How would you explain instances of rape where the victim is an elderly woman, decades too old to evoke any kind of sexual reaction in a young man?

How would you explain the excessive violence which often accompanies rape? If the act merely represents the satisfaction of sexual urges, why would violence beyond simple restraint be necessary?

Naw, they have Winter in Norway so at least some of the time they're dressed in something comparable to a Full Burqa.

Best bet is to reinstitute some of the older forms of punishment ~ like chain the rapist to a stone in the bay when the tide is out.

That's always a good one ~ wake you up Fur Shur.

I think you credit women with entirely too much ~ many men need no stimulation at all.

To some extent that is true. Some men could satisfy a sexual desire regardless of the woman's age or appearance.

Still, if a man is going to force himself on a woman, why not make it an attractive one? Sure, she doesn't HAVE to be attractive, but wouldn't that be what most men prefer?

And again, what about the violence involved in rape? If it was just about sex, all the rapist would need to do is keep the victim from resisting or escaping. Yet in many instances, the victim is severely beaten, even after the sex act has ended. Why is that necessary if the man has already satisfied his sexual urge?

I think there can be many causes for rape, and that there are different kinds of rape. Sometimes, it is just a case of a man unable to control his sexual urges. Sometimes, it is a case of power and control. Many times, it may be some combination of the two. I don't think generalizations really apply.

There is no sexual "reaction" taking place. Normal young men (and women) experience powerful sexual desires just living in an adolescent body regardless of who else is present, and learning to deal with it is part of life.

Society encourages people to only satisfy their desires with another consenting adult not of the same gender and not close kin, but when this isn't available many chose other ways to alleviate their already existing lust. Self alleviation is the most common method, and by far the most harmless, and it doesn't require any explanation of 'How can a hand provoke a sexual reaction?' It doesn't. It's just an easy means for a responsible person to effectively, if only temporarily, satisfy an urge without having to deal with consequences.

A rapist is different only in the fact that he has no concern for the possible consequences of involving non consenting persons from being involved in his lust alleviation scheme. If a good looking woman is available, he'll rape her, and since she's a non willing participant, he needs to use the threat of violence or actual violence to force her to submit. If a good looking woman isn't available, then he'll rape a 12 year old girl. If that's not available, then he'll rape a 12 year old boy. And depending on just how much he's been abusing drugs or alcohol, he'll take a 90 year old woman. I would be surprised if ANY of the cases of elder rape such as this DIDN'T involve prolonged abuse of alcohol or drugs as is true with a very large percentage of cases of child or teen sexual abuse whether same or opposite gender.

The sexual lust is always there and it's always the motivation for rape, but the amount and type of depravity or violence that might go along with it is another element.

We have to wonder what they call the leftist rabble who support them over the West?

"The sexual lust is always there and it's always the motivation for rape"

Sorry, but your 'opinion' is just flat out wrong. Agree to disagree.

Isn't it possible that different people have different motivations for rape. Is it certainly a one-size-fits-all issue?

Further, it's not clear to me what that statement that it's about power or whatever it's about means. LOTS of things are about power. Why does the rapist use a perversion of the sexual act?

Finally, for now ;-) , it seems to me sex and violence are psychologically and probably neurologically related -- and not just in humans. Ever been to a cattery? If it wasn't for violence there'd be no kittens.

None of this is to say that power isn't a big aspect of lots of rapes, including homosexual rapes.

"You say that it is your custom to burn widows. Very well. We also have a custom: when men burn a woman alive, we tie a rope around their necks and we hang them. Build your funeral pyre; beside it, my carpenters will build a gallows. You may follow your custom. And then we will follow ours."

This line of thinking should be a Norwegian one. If they rape women, we kill them. If they try to do so, we defend them. Guns are a fine old custom when hunting animals, and anything that rapes with the reasoning that a woman was dressed impropriately is certainly an animal.

And we would hardly wish to abandon this wonderful multicultural society we live in, would we now?

Good grief. The old "it was her fault, her skirt was too short (or she showed her ankle, or whatever...) and she made me rape her" routine. Oddly enough, the leftist "feminists" who used to (rightly) protest this approach have yet to be heard from when it comes to Muslims.
