"The record of Don Rumsfeld's tenure is clear; there has been more profound change at the Department of Defense over the past six years than at any time since the department's creation in the late 1940s.
On his watch, NATO sent its forces to defend a young democracy in Afghanistan more than 3,000 miles from Europe, the first time NATO has deployed outside the North Atlantic area in the history of the alliance."
Most importantly, he worked to establish a culture in the Pentagon that rewards innovation and intelligent risk-taking and encourages our military and civilian leaders to challenge established ways of thinking."
"These changes were not easy to make, but Rumsfelds determination and leadership led to the best equipped, best trained and most experienced military in the world. This man knows how to lead, and he did, and the country is better off for it.
No, it isn't only the color. One good example is Michael Steele, who ran for Senator in MD. He was clearly the best qualified candidate, and he's Black and GOP. The white Dem won.
Blacks, Jews, Seniors, Catholics, young mothers all vote overwhelmingly for Dem candidates.
Howard Dean said that the Dems have to find more Black candidates so they don't have another "Steele problem". Hence Obama.
Thanks for posting those quotations. I'm sorry I missed the ceremony.
"I have no better friend, and ask for none." Sounds like a wonderful friendship.
Ah, but Lieberman wouldn't necessarily have to give up his power. He's made it clear that he's "disappointed" in how the Dems treated him. He's staying with the Dems so he can keep his seniority (power). But the GOP could easily vote to let him keep his seniority if he switches.
He's out of step with the far Left that have control of the Dems now. I lost respect for him when he sold out to run with Gore, but I don't think he will go along totally with the Marxist Dems.
Seniority is the issue for him.
Pace recognized Joyce Rumsfeld for her contributions to her husbands service in the Pentagon. Anybody who has ever been in the same room with Joyce Rumsfeld knows her warmth, her compassion, the general said. She spent so many hours volunteering, working on family issues, visiting troops in the hospitals.
Pace presented her with the departments Distinguished Public Servant Award. Pace boiled the award citation down to, Joyce, thank you, we love you, God bless you and your husband in the next stages of your lives.
Thanks! GOOD to see you!

If anyone would like me to forward the email with the direct link that's hidden, just FRmail me, and I'll forward it to you.
I wish I could find the version with music, but I can't seem to. If anyone else finds that version with Karen Carpenter singing "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas," PLEASE ping me. The music makes it SO much nicer. Thank you.
I was glad to see the Ceremony today.
It was a fitting tribute.
Yo snugs - did I miss my toaster?
I TIVO'd it and I am just now watching. Me and my Kleenex tissues.
I love the Christmas Card! Thank you for posting it.
Do I owe you one from last week?
Isn't it sweet? Are you going to look at the powerpoint link? I hope so .. it is awesome, O. I wish I could post the version with the beautiful music.
Yes, ((thank you))) I will look at powerpoint too. Husband is really sick, so this is the first chance I have had today to try to watch Rummy's ceremony which I TIVO'd.
Lots of hankies. I just say Godspeed to Mr. and Mrs. Rumsfeld. We will have to carry on.
So many are ungrateful or just plain unaware of the service and sacrifice of these great Americans, the one being honored, the ones honoring, the troops and family members participating.. great Americans all.
I agree with your every word. I am enjoying the ceremony. I'm so glad I can watch it alone. :)
No I am just slow at posting it see post 233
This is the first time I've seen it. I just love it. Now, how were you able to snag the picture, since it's a video?
