WASHINGTON, D.C. - In a meeting today with the first high-ranking U.S. official to follow up on recommendations of a bipartisan study group, Syria’s President Bashar al-Assad agreed Syria and the U.S. have a common interest to stabilize Iraq and control the Syrian border with the strife-torn country to prevent insurgents from crossing between the nations...

Florida FREEPers, pick a nearby office and PLEASE tell Bill Nelson to quit sucking up to the Iraq SURRENDER Group report and the Syrians who support the murder of Americans and peace-loving Muslims in Iraq and the Christians in Lebanon and the Jews in Israel!

I cannot believe this nutcase took it upon himself to try and become the Commander-in-Chief!!!!!!

Can you guys Florida ping this? I am outraged, and I hope other Floridians are, too. Especially our Jewish friends. This guy is undercutting the war on terror BIG TIME.

Now, now... The good Senator SAYS that he's got Syria on board now. If he really does, then he deserves an honor.

But if he doesn't, then he's just proven how pathetically easy it is to bamboozle the Democrats diplomatically.

Someone please help me here... I thought it was expressly illegal for any citizen to attempt foreign policy on his own, and that people have been put in jail for that before. any thoughts?

Hey Bill, did Assad tell you he met with David Duke as well?

Real fine company you're keeping there.

Don't your get your panties in a wad. What if this is a strategery of "good cop, bad cop" With Bush cast in the Mel Gibson role, and Nelson doing the Danny Glover, "look man, I am trying to help you, but you gotta give me something that I can work with..." role.
On second thought, our Senator in space is not that bright. But he was bright enough to defeat Katherine Harris. But like I said, he is not that bright.

I just sent another letter to this idiot. How dare he undermine the President of the United States by meeting with a world leader on the world stage and negotiating without any authority? Isn't this what democrats always do, undermine US foreign policy by talking to the enemy? This nation is doomed when we have a shadow government working to destroy the elected one.

Based on our mutual prior experience, you can expect a reply from him telling you that he agrees with you that Bush is off his rocker, and that we'd be better off throwing our lot in with Assad.

I will be doing that as well. Can you just imagine the press if a Republican did this to Bill Clinton? We would still be hearing about it.

Bill Nelson is so out of touch (immune) from the real world and kept that way by his little swarm of suck-ups that buzz around and cover all the bases for him, that he doesn't have a clue (and wouldn't know what to do with one).

He continues to live in "La-La Land".

The Democratic Party controls him in every detail. Never ask him a question that isn't covered by his talking points or he's lost.

In short, he is a puppet with the DNC pulling the strings.

"The local libs are claiming that Nelson had presidential approval beforehand, does anyone have the details?"

They probably made that "fact" up, just like they usually do. Tony Snow says the White House does not approve of such trips to Syria, and the State Department specifically disapproved of Nelson's trip. My opinion is, if Nelson had to be stopped from going to Syria, as was his intent, then he should have been stopped. These politicians believe they're all powerful. You have to draw the line with them, just as you do with kids.

Then why the hell doesn't someone in the admin press charges? We don't get to pick and choose which laws we follow, why does anyone in government?

Why are we cursed with such fools in such important positions?

When it comes to politicians there are two reasons why we are cursed with such fools:

1. The best and brightest of this country no longer go into politics.

2. They were elected.

You're absolutely right with number 1. Think about the kind of people who go into politics. The vast majority of them are cursed with enormous egos and empty self-esteem both of which convince them that the country needs THEM and only they can save the world. Unfortunately, far too many of them are over inflated gas bags who I would trust to babysit my pet gerbil.

Number 2? They are elected by fewer and fewer people each election. Most people don't vote because of the poor quality of the candidates. I can hardly blame the people. Why bother? Empty suits such as Nelson forget what they go to Washington for, and wallow in the perks and parties.
