Rudy Giuliani remains the most popular presidential hopeful for Republican Party sympathizers in the United States, according to a poll by Opinion Dynamics released by Fox News. 30 per cent of respondents would vote for the former New York City mayor in a 2008 primary.

Arizona senator John McCain is second with 23 per cent, followed by former House of Representatives speaker Newt Gingrich with nine per cent, and Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney with eight per cent. Support is lower for Kansas senator Sam Brownback, New York governor George Pataki, and California congressman Duncan Hunter.

Do you want Hillary Clinton to be president?

"What does Rudy think on immigration? Do social issues just get thrown out the window for 8 years? Do we let millions more die in abortion clinics? I'm sorry, but I'm not a big fan of another moderate."

I'm 100% on your side, but - let's face it, those millions are going to die in abortion clinics no matter WHO is elected President.

One of th Rudy's drawbacks is he probably cannot carry his home state of NY against Clinton.
Maybe, maybe not. It remains an untested proposition. But which Republican hopeful has a better chance.

And one of Rudy's advantages is that he just might be able to carry California in the general election.

You're a bona fide idiot if you think we need McCain or Giuliani to beat Hillary. Conservatism works every time it's tried. Why are we trying to fight a liberal with a liberal Republican?

My comment was directed toward Rudy v McCain....I would much rather have a Republican in office than a Democrat and I think Rudy could win over Hillary, if that is the choice. I also think Rudy would be much stronger in the war on terrorism.
Yes, I would love to see a conservative running for office and I think a Regan conservative could win. The powers that be do not seem to listen to us conservatives anymore.

As far as abortion issue goes I really do not see it being overturned at the Federal level, we could only hope. I think it has to be up to the states to ban abortion and we may see more success at the state level than at the federal level.....just my opinion....

FoxNews said Newt Gingrich is the "dark horse" in the race.

If he could garner enough support and look like he could actually beat Hillary, I'd vote for him in the primary.

Since Roe v. Wade, we have had at least 16 years of solid pro-life Republicans...and that's stopped abortion...how?
Good question. There is no answer, other than one based on fantasy, such as, if we just get someone like... (fill in the blank)

Californians don't really think any more of New Yorkers, than the rest of the union thinks of Californians.

Don't nominate Rudy to win California. It won't work.

The Republicans need to put Conservatives in office. Look what has happened in this last election.

Rudy has FDR's grin. That might sway some MSM hacks.

The media will crucify Gingrich.

And they'll be successful.

How about a Romney / Santorum ticket?

Santorum is not attractive to a majority of voters.

He can't even win in his state; he certainly can't win nationally.

He is adored by a small minority of conservatives, not enough to get him the GOP nomination.

Better yet, Romney has been faithfully married to one wife for almost 40 years and has reared outstanding and accomplished children from that union.
How sweet. But last time I checked we didn't elect Presidents for their parenting skills. We elected them for their record of public accomplishment. Which Giuliani has.

If this will be the way it goes down to, between McCain and Guliani, Rudy's lead definitely will increase.

The country is not ready to elect a Mormon, however great he may be.

I think even Republicans would be reluctant to nominate him, and there is no way he could get enough support from the general electorate to beat the Dem nominee.

Vote for Romney, if you want a Dem president.

Republicans should have their criteria prioritized, it's not whom YOU like, it's:

1. WHO has the best chance to beat the Dem nominees, most likely Hillary.

2. Who is the toughest on the terrorists.

If this criteria aren't satisfied, none of the other things matter.

Abortion funding has been cut off for the UN.

Partial birth abortion bill has been signed.

2 new very pro-life Justice have been seated. If a pro-life bill comes before them now it has a much better chance.

If you think this all would have happened without Repubs in power you are not thinking straight.

If Santorum had been re-elected in PA he'd have a chance. As it is, forget about it. Which is too bad. Santorum is great. But his ship has sailed.
