Democrats frustrated by Bush's reaction to Iraq report (Bush refuses to surrender!)
The Mercury News ^ | December 8, 2006 | William Douglas and Margaret Talev

Top Democrats in Congress left a White House meeting with President Bush on Friday frustrated over what they perceived as his reluctance to embrace major recommendations from the bipartisan Iraq Study Group.

"I just didn't feel there today, the president in his words or his demeanor, that he is going to do anything right away to change things drastically," Senate Majority Leader-elect Harry Reid, D-Nev., said following the Oval Office meeting. "He is tepid in what he talks about doing. Someone has to get the message to this man that there have to be significant changes."

Bush has been cool to some of the report's main recommendations. He's said he won't deal with Iran until it verifiably suspends its nuclear enrichment program and won't sit down with Syria until it stays out of Lebanon's political affairs and prevents the flow of weapons and cash to insurgents in Iraq.

And Bush has stressed many times that U.S. troops will stay in Iraq until they successfully complete their mission.

Ohio, why the F did Bush appoint these diplo-twits on this study group then? I'm personally praying to God that he DOESN'T bail on Iraq and lets our troops finish the job. But Bush keeps doing all these seemingly insane things for a guy who isn't planning on retreating. If you see any logic in appointing this Star Wars bar scene to recommend ideas of how to surrender, please share it with me because I seriously have not been able to see even a Machiavellian angle to bringing in a bunch of losers and prolific Jew-haters to 'solve' anything.

From what I have learned, the ISG conclusion was that we needed to hold a lot of meetings everywhere with everybody.

I know you posted to ohioWfan...but, I can answer your question.

President Bush did NOT appoint this ISG...a Congressman (R) put this forward as legislation...and Congress passed it...and they appointed the committee.

Bush had nothing to do with it.

The only good thing about this Iraq study report is that Bush and the GOP (the smart ones anyway) can use it in '08 to prove what utter disgraceful wimps the Democrat surrender monkeys are.

"Do we need another 9-11 to remember who the real enemy is?"

Sadly, I think the dims do. Only this time it will have to be 9-11 x 10 to make them jerk their heads out of the sand.

My question to you is why is someone posting on this board so ill informed that he accuses President Bush of appointing these people when it is common knowledge that this is Congress' doing? Aren't you embarrassed?

My suggestion to you is to stop posting until you educate yourself.

It seems we've got this bizarre pattern in our governance now where, time and time again, when there's a controversial issue, some "committee" or "group" of unelected, unresponsible, random, politically-connected people is formed to "write" some document of recommendations and policies (which I suspect is really written by no-name low-level staffers), upon publication of which for some reason it's just taken as a foregone conclusion by popular media and even many politicians, most of whom probably don't even read the thing, that whatever is in the document must necessarily be holy-writ and adopted wholesale by whoever is in charge.

This is tremendously idiotic. I don't even know where to begin. How did this stupid method of deciding things even start?

It's got to stop.

Even the fact that we're discussing this "Iraq Study Group" thing as if it somehow merits serious consideration by anyone makes me nauseous.

Many are the usual suspects, Blue. They're always wrong and they NEVER apologize........they just move on and bash the President about something else until that's proven wrong, and they refuse to apologize and move on to something else.

In six years it's not hard to see the pattern here.....

"This man"? Senator Reid dismissively refers to the President of the United States as 'this man"?

How infantile.

48 hours after the study is released, and Reid is already stamping his feet and whining because nothing's happened yet.

These guys are going to spend the next two years giving the public an object lesson on why Democrats can't be trusted with power. They just can't help themselves.

They will not dare, if they do, 95% chance that it is going to fail either in the House or the Senate, if it passed in both, the President will veto it and the democrats will be defeated in 2008 for both the White House and Congress.

This will be the major recommendation in the Pentagon report and the President will follow it. The President made it clear that he will go with the Pentagon report.

A shame they've hit a roadblock. They ought to consult with Syria or Iran to get some more advice on how to deal with it.

You gotta admit that one of Bush's better qualities is his Texan stubborn streak. He's gonna drive these Dims crazy.

Pelosi: "But why won't he recognize that we Democrats have been elected Supreme Rulers of the universe? Why will this puny president not submit to our awesome will?

Someone has to get the message to Reid that he has been degrading the CIC for political gain during the most significant war time in our history and selling our country to extremists.

In the vast configuration of things, I'd say Reid is nothing more than a survey little spider...and that goes for you too MSM.
