I hope so, but based on the trend the last four years and the reality on the ground and politically, I doubt it.
I have to get those pumpkin chocolate chip bars in the oven. Thanks for the discussion. See ya around FR.
Like the rest of us, President Bush was mislead regarding an imminent Iraqi nuclear threat. Unfortunately, he took the country to what appears to be a permanent war without a declaration of war. A Congressional resolution is not a declaration of war.
The American people are very pragmatic. After four years, they ask: Where's the progress? And there is no progress, just body bags.
Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Bars? Now there's a party in your mouth. LOL.
Nice to talk to you and apology accepted. See you around.
my prayers answered.here we go
the dough was all chocolate like pudding but way more set..in the bowl you would big spoon dip and drop em
no nuts and when they were done they looked like round mounds that were not like a cookie but like a mound of solid chocolate but not hard.that help ?
Did we know what would "trigger the end" of the Cold War...don't think so.
This uncertanty is the essential problem with why the majority of Americans believe that a change is required
The opinion of the majority of Americans changes with the wind (usually led by what the MSM tells them). The Dems aren't going to come up with any alternative plan so the war will continue and Pres. Bush will continue to follow his program of training the Iraqi troops...the right thing to be doing IMO.
FR came into being under the shadow of the Clinton presidency. Conservatives needed a place to go, and FR filled the niche. When you have a common opponent to rally against, everyone feels more comfortable debating strategy amongst ourselves. It's harder to be open when our guy is in power, and there's dissention in the ranks over how he's doing. FR, being the free site that it is, has been rife with trolls and infiltrators, and that makes people even more suspicious of non-party line viewpoints.
But, hope of a sort is on the horizon. President Clinton brought us here, and President Clinton will bring us back together. (Think about that one for a sec) In the meantime, keep your asbestos underwear handy.
I think it's only being treated like that right now. I doubt it will be thought much of in 5 yrs.
I am not entirely sure how you measure progress...but I would suggest you do a little list making from information gleaned from folks on the ground. Progress is most DEFINITELY being made. Slower than everyone would like...but it is still being made.
Think of it this way: Ninety percent of America have achieved an extremely low crime rate. But parts of LA and NY and DC are crazy out of control. Has America made progress or not?
LOL. I'd rather fight with my friends if you don't mind. Even if the asbestos knickers get a little itchy.
I don't even think it'll take five weeks before it's consigned to the trash heap of history. Even some of the leftists in the DBM have to know what a silly and futile piece of garbage this report is, deep down in what passes for their minds. But that won't stop them all from trying to defend it with all the venom and hysteria they used to destroy the GOP in the recent elections, by viciously attacking anyone who dares to even think about questioning anything contained in it. They'll only stop doing that when it becomes farcical.
As for progress you have to either know some inside people to get that information because you certainly won't hear it from our MSM.
I'll concede other intelligence agencies believed Saddam possessed WMD stocks.
Unfortunately, President Bush elected to invade Iraq without a declaration of war based on bad intelligence and a false b elief that U.S. forces could be withdrawn reapidly. Nearly four years have passed. Politically, time is up.
d eclearation of war based on bad intelligence.
t this point, the source. . It doesn't matter if I make a mistake. It matters if a President makes a mistake involving the fate of the nation. That's why the framers delegated the war powers to Congress.
Where do we go from here?
We've got dozens of eloquent and intelligent Freepers.
I of course disagree with your premise that it's bashing in this case.
I mean, what kind of forum would you want to be in where there's nobody disagreeing?
Bashing is like ponography. We'll know it when we see it. ;^)
Knew we could count on you. ;^)
But it sure smells rotten.
We didn't need experts to tell us we won the Gulf War, World Wars I and II, the Civil War, the Mexican War and the Revolutionary War: The enemy either surrendered or sued for peace on terms favorable to the U.S.
In Iraq we could tell we were winning if the security situation was so good U.S. combat troops could be withdrawn. Is there any sign of that in your opinion? If U.S. troops remain in combat another four, 10 or 400,000 years, is it likely victory can be won?
Again, we've imposed something called the Iraqi Government of National Unity on Mesopotamia. In fact, there is no Ireaqi nation state, and after four years there is no government and no unity. There is a democratic, indepdent Kurdistan, a Shiite south, and the Sunni triangle. The only people who want an Iraqi state are oiur Baathist enemies.
Well, not quite. The difference is that the Democrats want power here, so that they can give it away. Their goal is lessen the power of the US in the world to create a more even balance. They think that power must be redistributed as well as wealth.
