Maybe. Or it could be he had too much faith in the American people to question what the media was reporting. Instead, a large number of them swallow hook, line and sinker everything the MSM says.
Engaging the "presstitutes", as you call them, on all levels, is the right way to go.
I still smile when I think of Bush's trouncing of that twit Helen Thomas and would be all for him doing more of it.

Perhaps if he actually defined the specific conditions of "victory" it would make more sense to the majority of Americans.

Being the gentlemen and polite person that he is, the President is expected to give them “the courtesy praise”. Indeed the President can even for further and say yes I agree with many in the ISG report because that is what we have been doing all along like training the Iraqi forces and speeding up the training, or like the novice and brilliant idea (extreme sarcasm) that ISG recommended of us talking to the Iraqi leadership! However the President will refuse the surrender terms in the Iraq Surrender Group report like leaving before the mission is complete, withdrawing the troops before victory, and holding direct talks with Iran and Syria on the expense of Israel or Lebanon or anything else.
And I will respectfully agree to disagree with you. We're on the same side here, and I think we both know it.........at least I do. :)

Maybe I don't appreciate sacrificing life any longer until we get a winnable war strategy.
It is you who denigrates by cheapening it.

He mealy-mouthed his response to a question on whether he'd accept the ISG recommendations, and I started to wrry. But then, when a reporter accused him of being "in denial" about the situation in Iraq, Bush very forcefully, passionately and articulately reitered his long-held positions - declared victory to be vital, that we would not quit, etc. He was just great.
We are definitely on the same side. I just want a more spirited defense of what we are doing in Iraq and more emphasis on the consequences of defeat. Bush made the right decision to topple Saddam and every day the more we learn about that regime, the more I believe it was essential that the regime be taken out. Now is not the time to cut and run. We have a unique opportunity to change the dynamic in the entire region.
Many Americans agree with Bush`s overall strategy in the WOT. Their not supporting him in the battle for Iraq. You maybe satisfied with Bush getting his message out. The polls say something different. And the ultimate poll, the Nov7th 2006 election results, was the icing on the cake. The GOP was devastated. If there had been a stronger, more focused effort by Bush&Company in communicating their foreign policy message to the American people, they might not be facing such an overwhelming challenge in Iraq today. The American people will always rally around the POTUS and support him in troubled times, if the president gives them good reason to do so. Communicating that message to the American people is critical to the success of any POTUS.

Washington and Lincoln were confronted with tremendous obstacles to victory and thank God, they were able to overcome. Now Pres. Bush is confronted with obstacles from the MSM and gutless politicians. I urge all Freepers to e-mail the Pres. at: comments@whitehouse.gov Right now the man probably feels like the lonliest guy in the world he needs our support.
Certainly not, madam! I only critize your right to deny others the same right of free speech--as long as it conforms to the standards set forth in the FR agreement. It is interesting to me, however, how you Bushbots demand that we fawn all over this failed Iraqi war strategy (incidentally, I voted for the president twice--mainly because of who ran against him--but I occassionally drift over to the left side of my brain and wish I had that opportunity again as I find myself agreeing more and more with presidential historians that I once despised--like Douglas Brinkley. And, should he lose this war as he is managing to do [thanks in part to Democrats, but more in part to Rumsfeld and those in his own administration] I do believe he'll go down as the worst president in our history).
If we lose Iraq, it'll be worse than that. I hope the "American stomach" is ready for hand to hand, because thats what's next if we follow the democrats and surrender again.
Didn't they say the same thing about Vietnam and nothing happened AT ALL in America. I am on the President's side, but let's not be over dramatic.
Of course not. I expected this report to be worse than useless. But it "exceeded" even my expectations for worthlessness, and I think it's offensive that an empty, fatuous and defeatist piece of tripe like this is treated like one of the great documents of history.

One gaping hole in that statement. We're talking about islamofacist this time around. Their goal is to destroy us and turn the US into their caliphate. The communist in Vietnam had no such ambitions.
