I was looking at some of Norman Rockwell's drawings on the web and came across this one of Ronald Reagan. I have never seen this one before and I thought I would share it with everyone on FR. Since Norman Rockwell passed away in 1978, this must have been done around the time Reagan was governor of California.

Ronaldus was the talk of my college by 1977. He ran for the Republican nomination in 1976, and was publicly suggesting we arm the Salvadorans against the Communist rebels. (Horrors!) Since it was an Eastern college, of course he was considered the devil.
Someone with more knowledge than I might remember when those drawings actually appeared.
Agreed. He left us a road map..."Legacy". Wonder if we can find somebody with Cajones and ability to read?
And, it seems it is now in the Reagan Library.
Along the way I came across a quote by Ronald Reagan that is quite prophetic and can be applied to our current President.

I remember around the 1972 timefrrame - I was 15 - and I heard Reagan on television, some sort of political commercial. I really cannot remember what it was but I thought at the time that he made sense and it sounded so right. By the time 1976 rolled around, I was a young ignorant, arrogant, cocky punk going into the navy. I thought Ford was a bumbler and I remembered hearing a speech by Carter where he said America has to take a back seat in the world. I did not vote though I could have. My first vote was for Reagan in 80. I remember the debate with Carter when the Peanut Farmer stated he got nuclear missle advice from Amy. The look on Reagan's face was priceless - a 'can you believe that' look. I think Carter lost the election right then and there. I remember the Navy under Carter. Pathetic! I got out in 80 and reenlisted in 82. A night and day experience. A better Navy! Reagan was the real deal!
I hope so. I have been pissed off and in the dumps since the election. The main thing that has pissed me off concerning Bush is when Rumsfeld resigned/thrown to the curb the day after the election. I work with a lib and even he said that was bad. It looked bad and weak. There should have been a better way. And from what I have seen and heard from Gates so far does not impress me. This ISG report is crap and everyone knows it. Everyone knows the problem right now is Iran and the sooner we take them out, the better I think it will be. I dearly hope President Bush has a grand finale planned but I have my doubts.
I was only one when that ad came out, so forgive my ignorance, but who is that in the upper right of that poster? I've got the rest...Goldwater, Bobby Kennedy, LBJ, RR and Nixon...But that one in the upper right has me stumped.
Seeing the ones of Nixon and Humphrey, I remember seeing them. I guess that is Bobby Kennedy next to Reagan. Who are the other two above Kennedy and Reagan and Reagan and Nixon? Thinking about it while looking at the pictures, Reagan was only a one term governor by the time these pictures came out but his star must have been shining brightly to include him in that group.

My first vote ever cast was for Reagan in '84. I've been holding my nose when I vote since. I sure do miss him.
Goldwater and LBJ are not in the picture. Eugene McCarthy and Nelson Rockefeller are.
