Weekend Thirteen cleared up the BCS title picture a bit. USC won convincingly against Notre Dame while Florida failed to get the style points needed to make a run at the Trojans and Wolverines. With Arkansas losing to LSU, Florida only theoretically has a chance at the title game. The weekend was not without surprises as Texas lost for the 2nd time in a row while West Virginia eliminated itself from Big East and BCS contention by losing to South Florida. The weekend also featured some great finishes with BYU, Georgia, Oklahoma and Tennessee pulling games out late. This week is Championship Week. The conference championship games for the MAC, Conference USA, ACC, SEC and Big XII will be played. Each of those games, along with the Army-Navy game, is the feature this week.
The MAC champion goes to The Motor City Bowl in Detroit, MI to face either the 7th best Big Ten team or an at-large team. As the Big Ten is getting 2 into the BCS, it will be the at-large team. Central Michigan can score in bunches while Ohio is on a roll.
The winner of this game goes to the Liberty Bowl to play against an SEC school while the loser of this game will most likely be heading to Mobile, Alabama for the GMAC bowl against a MAC team (probably Central Michigan). Houston lost a close game to USM earlier this season while it was still in the post-Miami funk after nearly defeating the Hurricanes in Miami.
I cant believe Im actually going to pick this. Wake Forest is the better team. Georgia Tech has the weapons to win, but not the quarterback. Their defense will keep them in this game, but the pick is Wake. The winner goes to the Orange Bowl while the loser goes to the Chick-Fil-A bowl (formerly the Peach Bowl).
The winner of this game is going to the Sugar Bowl unless Florida wins big and something absolutely screwy happens in the BCS. Arkansas must win this game to get into the BCS at all. Otherwise, LSU is going. It comes down to if Florida will be able to score consistently or if Arkansas will be able to make some plays through the air. Special teams will play a big factor in deciding this game. That favors Arkansas. With LSU not playing this weekend, the loser of this game is probably relegated to the Capital One bowl.
The winner of this game is going to the Fiesta Bowl. A good old school match-up that will be played in the Big XII championship for the very FIRST time in the 10 year history of the conference. Since the loss to Texas back in October, Oklahoma has been on a roll. Nebraska, minus a slip up against Oklahoma State, has only lost to USC and Texas, which was a much better team at the time of the loss. I have to give the edge to Oklahoma. Bill Callahan gets too conservative in big games like this and I think the Oklahoma offense will be able to move the ball against the Nebraska defense. The loser of this game will go to the Cotton Bowl.
Army and Navy square off again. This year Navy is the home team. Navy is the better team but Army did almost knock off Texas A&M earlier this season. This game will win Navy the Commander in Chiefs trophy for the best service team. Navy is slated to go to the Meineke Car Care Bowl in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Good points, but don't forget BYU. Of course they've only been pedestrian since the days of Steve Young, but they still turn out their share of NFL players.
Quote from the Univ. of Florida President - "If they don't vote for us after tonight, we need a new system. We should be packing our bags to Glendale."
Thus 2 reasons the voters should shaft Florida and vote for Michigan:
1) Voting against Florida will push the SEC, and more importantly one or more presidents, to junk the Bullcrap System and move us to a playoff (most likely a +1 post-BCS bowls game, which will without a doubt evolve into an 8 or more team playoff involving the BCS bowls)
2) Vote against the SEC's overinflated ego and sense of entitlement
A vote for Michigan is a vote for a playoff and against the BCS.
He just didn't seem very bright. He didn't seem to think very fast on his feet, unlike a lot of great quarterbacks.
Exactly! It was like his brain and his feet were not connected some times. I was glad to see him get tossed off the team and so happy for Paul Thompson who is the ultimate unselfish player.
Thanks for the info. Yeah, I used to be a member on that board and posted some, but hadn't visited in a long time.
It doesn't recognize me anymore (just went to your link), so I guess I'm "out." Same with Rivals forum. Those formats have those huge avatars that make me crazy on my slow dial-up, so I don't participate much anymore.
I've been such a bad-luck jinx the past couple of years that I'm trying to be nonchalant about OUr games. The less attention I pay to them, the better they do - so I have had to scale way back on my fan fare. (Until my luck changes, of course!)
I'm always there in spirit, though! Just have to do things to trick the jinxster. Have the TV on, but no sound. Have the radio on, but be in another room. Play Boomer Sooner on one of many little player thingies. Wear my T-shirts and other gear, but not until half time. Not attending any games in person at all.
That would've been the hardest for me, but it turned out to be the easiest, as I can't go anywhere at all - bad health and no money. Had a pretty good track record of going to at least one home and one away game every season for 50 years - *before* this all happened.
Oh, Lord, Joe Don Looney! He ... no, wait, I'm thinking of something Lance Rentzel did. Never mind. I'll think of my Looney story later.
I went to a game there, when OU played one year right before "mele kalikimaka" and what I remember most was the deafening sound of the stomping in the stands!
It shook the whole stadium and I was truly afraid the place was going to fall down.
Get Firefox, then get the extension "AdBlock Plus" ... Then "Block" most those avatars and slow loading pictures. I do it and can now participate on the Canteen threads here on FR, since I block most all slow loading pictures.
Certainly no Gundy, Heupel or White, just to name a few of OUr more recent QBs.
LOL... work for any major broadcasting sports MSM perchance?
Thanks for the tip!
Lol, ya that's basically Aloha for you. The entire stadium is sheet metal and if you can get a bunch of people stomping the whole thing will shake. It also rusts, which is not a good thing for a stadium next to the worlds largest body of salt water. When you add in the fact that its not very close to the University, it's basically one of the worst stadiums in the country.
We have season tickets so I am in Section 23 every home game well almost everyone as I missed two this year while I was in FL when my oldest daughter had my first grandchild. My daughter called me at the start of the game tonight to tell me she had put on the Sooner gear I bought Sydney before she was born to bring us luck. Sydney was born on Saturday right after we lost to UT and since then we have won every game. My daughter puts her Sooner gear on for the games along with hers. Now Sydney will be getting a Big 12 Championship shirt for a keepsake when she gets older!
I put on my sooner shirt tonight that I had on when we beat Nebraska in 2000 which I always get out for good luck! I bought a Sooner Mom shirt for that game in 2000! What a game that was in 2000 and I enjoyed tonight just as much!
I hate watching from home -- was a nervous wreck once again. In the stands I don't get as nervous as I do watching at home and yelling at the announcers.
The had Arkansas as the team we lost to because of refs when it was Oregon and then gave Barry seven national championships.
I have been known to go in the other room, go out and weed if it is a day game, etc. if we are starting to lose. I was a nervous wreck last week. My son had our kicker, Hartley, was a student in his English Comp class when he was pulled out of redshirt and we found out before the media. My son called me right after class to tell me he was going to be kicking.
I very seldom participate in the message boards but love reading some of the comments. My son posts on them all the time.
I heard that "Arkansas" flub! Just shows what they think of Flyover Country football - it's always been that way.
After all the brouhaha, it's not like they should forget "Oregon"!
Glad *your* gear is working! Sounds like all the kids in my family used to have, too! I'm the biggest kid about the Sooners, tho. Third generation and I'm the last one left.
An example of my jinxedness - take a real wild guess at what point in the Oregon game I turned up the sound on the TV. Take another guess when I did it with Texas. Yup.
Oh my! If I'd known about the rust, I'd have been out in the parking lot instead of in the stands. It did feel like the whole thing was just going to give away beneath me.
And the "connecting parts" or whatever, when you practically have to jump across a canyon to get to the next section! I guess it's to be "flexible" in case of a tsunami or earthquake?
And the Big Ten(11) does not have the same attitude? Please!
Sometimes it is going to happen that the two best teams at the end of the season are from the same conference. And it is even possible that they won't have played each other yet. Sure, the second-ranked team should be conference champ if the top-ranked team is from a different conference, but not necessarily otherwise.
Beavers win!!!!

Florida deserves to be in the NC game. However, given the bias against SEC teams, I'm afraid we'll see a replay of Ohio St. and Michigan (a team which did not win a conference title).
Great day of college football, BTW.
