Miami is not a "third world country".

It's been 6 years since I've been in Miami. Is it really so bad?

If his brother would secure the damn border, most of the *nuts* would go away.

No, they won't, because Pat still won't be President.

No surprise you would have a problem with Jeb being married to someone of Mexican descent.

If you wanted to close the Mexican border you should have gotten the voters to elect the candidates that wanted to close the border instead of electing those that want to open the border.

Ironic, what the "let's teach 'em a lesson" crowd brought about, ain't it?

My bet would be the majority are in Miami-Dade county.

Nah, they're doing yard work for the wealthy retirees in Palm Beach and on the Gold Coast.

Remember what Reagan thought of the Bush clan. He thought they were Council on Foreign Relations-types who were more loyal to money than their country. Reagan was right. These are nothing but blue blood elitist Rockefeller Republicans.

As they say about W in Texas, "he's all hat and no cattle." They're total posers. Carpetbagging Connecticut Yankees. Goldwater is rolling over in his grave. Please let them go away.

There are parts of Miami where no one speaks English, no sign is in English and you really do feel that you are in a "foreign" country. All of the businesses are non-English, etc. The crime rate, even in the ever so trendy "South Beach" area is appalling. Don't get me wrong, Miami is beautiful and sophisticated, but it has a dark underbelly. Don't dare venture into the "wrong" area, as it can be deadly. OTOH, the Cuban people can be very warm and friendly with great entrepreneurial abilities, but the slimy side is daunting.

Tancredo's right. Most of Miami sucks. The big money is only in certain areas, and even in South Beach, the crime is horrible.

Did you know that Miami has the highest rate of violent crime in America? We are also the second most stressful city in the nation (after Tacoma, Washington), according to the latest report from Sperling's Best Places USA (www.bestplaces.net).

They put it this way: "Miami has the highest violent crime rate in our study, as well as one of the highest property crime rates.... Making Miami even more stressful is the long commute time ... and a high unemployment rate."

It's even more alarming to know that Sperling's depiction is already old news. In 2002, with the exception of forcible rape, Miami's grim statistics were roughly double the national average in crime per 100,000 people for offenses such as murder, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, larceny/theft, and motor vehicle theft. (See areaConnect at http://miamifl.areaconnect.com/crime1.htm.)

I've noticed that sometimes "facts' mean very little here on FR. I've spent lots of time in Miami. It was actually better several years ago, but has declined in the past ten years crime-wise. Over speculation by foreign investors has created a glut on the market of high priced condos, etc., adding to the malaise at the moment.

There are parts of Miami where there is no "assimilation" (legal or not) and never will be. But, be that as it may, it's a great place to go for a short vacation if you know where to go and you have the money.

Give Tommy credit, he saw the problem and help bring it forward. But then he changed and the solution was all about him. No compromise Tommy became a folk hero to some, no amnesty for illegals! People bought into that, sounds wonderful but it doesn`t get anything done. Even the Constitution is a compromise for goodness sake. But Tommy didn`t want that, he needs an issue, something to keep the true believers hot and the checks coming.
In the end, we are going to end up with a bill the Rats write and it will do nothing positive except increase the size of the federal government. Thanks Rep. Tancredo

Thats the point.

For Tancredo and his like minded supporters anyone that speaks Spanish or looks hispanic is a illegal alien and should be deported.

For a city to be considered third world all that matters for Tancredo and his fans that it speaks Spanish.

Never mind the infrastructure, quality of living, cleanliness, environment, garbage collection etc which decides whether some city is third world or not, it is just whether Spanish or English.

I'm afraid you're confusing W with his Daddy. They were raised differently. 41 was raised in the East Coast Blueblood milieu. He moved his family West to Texas so he could make a new life for his family. 43 was raised in Texas, far from those Northeastern attitudes.

You may not like the President, or agree with his policies, but he's not the same man as his Dad.

"Bush will not run again, and the lesson from the 2006 election is the party that is for open borders wins." Talk about serious delusion.

The Iraq war, president Bush's low approval ratings and people like Randy "Duke" Cunningham and Mark Foley's general corruption cost the GOP this election. You know that, and you just lie. What kind of position do you have if you must lie?

Everyone points to Hayworth, but ignores that Brian P. Bilbray, a very well-known minuteman, won in what was considered a swing district by a large margin against a much better funded opponent. Three (four if you count official English) anti-illegal propositions in Arizona easily passed. And many democrats who won, like that sports' player in North Carolina and Sherrod Brown in Ohio, are very pro-border.

Media in ERROR -- Immigration-Reduction did NOT lose at the polls

There was a much better and more detailed article on this myth here on FreeRepublic via Human Events.

For you to even post this known lie is really low.

What is really troubling is that the entire Bush Family does not take the immigration issue serious --- well, at least not as serious as about 90% of the rest of the Nation.

"It is`nt even working here and we`re the conservatives."

It must be working because Tancredo looks very popular in FreeRepublic online opinion polls.
