Newly elected Senator Jim Webb, D-Va., was so infuriated by a remark from President George W. Bush that the former Marine officer was tempted to punch the commander-in-chief.
The confrontation, disclosed in the influential Washington, D.C.-based publication The Hill, came shortly after the midterm elections at a private White House reception for newly elected lawmakers.
Webb, who defeated Republican Sen. George Allen in Virginia, ran a campaign critical of the administrations Iraq policy, and has a son, a Marine lance corporal, serving in Iraq.
At the reception, Bush asked Webb how his son was doing.
Webb answered that he really wanted to see his son brought back home, a source close to Webb reported.
The Associated Press quoted Webb as saying, "I told him I'd like to get them out of Iraq."
"I didnt ask you that, I asked how hes doing, Bush countered, according to the source.
Emily Heil wrote in The Hill: "Webb confessed that he was so angered by this that he was tempted to slug the commander-in-chief, reported the source, but of course didnt.
Webbs spokeswoman Kristian Denny Todd confirmed that "Jim did have a conversation with Bush at that dinner. Basically, he asked about Jims son; Jim expressed the fact that he wanted to have him home.
Todd wouldnt comment on Bushs response.
Does the name Alcy Hastings come to mind?
Only when I throw up.....
Just here with my tagline!
Just the huge crop of Muzzie's that voted for Webb!
"All that you can say is that the published comments do not contain a threat. You cannot say Webb did NOT threaten the President, unless you are omniscient."
NewsMax twisted the story and you know it. Calling me sarcastic names is not going to change that. Webb is a dirtbag but did not threaten the President. Show me a documented quote where he did and I will apologize profusely.
I am not claiming he threatened the President, I am saying you are in no position to say he did not. It is you who claimed he did not threaten the President, yet you most certainly cannot prove a negative. All you can say (unless you are omniscient) is what the quotes say or do not say.
Also, "omniscient" is not a name, it's an adjective. Names are nouns.
One question - who set the tone?
Wonder how his son feels about that.
Which IMHO is a big part of the problems we are having in the Middle East. The 'rats belittled America's President giving encouragement to the MSM to go ever further in belittling him giving encouragement, in turn, to America's enemies to defy us.
I doubt that they will ever admit or even recognize their complicity in the difficulties in Iraq. They still don't see that their cut and run behavior in Viet Nam caused millions to die.
I am still astounded at the number of people who barely got through high school (or less) who think that President Bush is "stupid." The MSM is truly despicable, but powerful.
This one is one of the 100 Senators with a little more influence. Even more comfort...
To avoid the guilt of their obvious cowardice, they convince themselves of all kind of conspiracies of how those who fight back against evil aggression are the real evil aggressors.
Essentially they are psychotic cowards. And that's not calling them names, it is just plain fact.
I'm sure Mr.Rumsfeld can attest to that.And Mr.Wolfowitz,
Mr.Fieth,Mr.Perle,Mr.Cheney,.....
lofl
Hope Va. voters gets what they deserve.
Yes and so do I. The thing that bothers me is I only live a few miles from the Va. State Line and, I still can't believe the people of Va. voted this looser into office. I think it will come back to bite them in the arss.
Answer a personal question with a dumb-ass, political reply and you can expect to be treated as a cheap-shot, political partisan.
Any way FR software can place a radio/button such that we can mash it and automatically send a 'how's your boy' email to this POS? We need to keep this one alive.
I think DUbya can take Webb, I know Ollie North did.
