I always thought the word was slang for negro (with a Southern accent). I wonder why they hate Southern accents so much. As far as I know it is still ok to say negro as in negro college fund.

I don't believe that the First Amendment to the Constitution will allow the ban on a word that a group finds offensive. The First Amendment GUARANTEES the right of free speech to all, except for speech which advocates the overthrow of our Government. If Jesse Jackson is allowed to proceed with this ridiculous idea, then where does it stop. The curbing of free speech in this country is slowly being denied to the Citizens of America.

How can you ban a word? That is so ridiculous.
If they try to ban it, I want these banned too: White Trash, Trailor Trash, Honkey, Cracker, Limey, Himey, Spic, Wop, Chink, Jap, Blond, Polish and Greaseball. (everyone knows the only time 'blond' or 'Polish' is used...is with a joke as being derogatory. It's got to stop too.)

The word is not vile, but ill-advised,in today's PC world where everyone parrots the "I'm on the side of the black man propaganda." I seriously doubt there are many alive who haven't uttered the word. And it is just a word. If someone stoops to using it to insult a black person, then he or she is just showing ignorance and can merely be ignored. Frankly I think that all past wrongs against black people have been squared. It's time for them to shut up about it.

So Kramer called some black guy the n-word. Big deal. The guy could have just walked out and been done with it. But no, we can't have that when there was a white man to be destroyed (maybe deservedly so). Words are words. If name calling is going get an adult all upset, then I can think of a really descriptive name to use that we used to describe whiny people when I was in high school.

i KNEW Dr King well in the 1960s and he DESPISED jesse jackson, as he said that jesse was a POSEUR, who was concerned ONLY about jesse & "making a buck".

jesse hasn't changed. it's still "all about" jesse & $$$$$$$$$$. nothing more. nothing less.
