A Message to All the Cut and Run Freepers Currently Polluting Free Republic
Friday, November 24, 2006 | Kristinn

Posted on 11/24/2006 6:46:08 PM PST by kristinn

I'm reading an astonishing number of comments on Free Republic these days by posters who have joined the ranks of the anti-American left in calling for an immediate withdrawal from Iraq. Some claim to have military experience, some claim to be patriotic Americans and some claim to be smarter than the rest.

These posters are joining the Murtha-Rangel-McDermott treason caucus. Oh, they say they love the troops, but their decision to abandon them in the field speaks otherwise.

Three years ago, the United States led an international coalition to rid the world of one of the worst regimes on the planet. Saddam Hussein was an international terrorist: He financed terrorism, he trained terrorists and he harbored terrorists. He waged war on Iran, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Israel. He waged war on the people of Iraq, including genocidal campaigns against the Kurds in the north and the marsh Arabs in the south.

Saddam successfully subverted the Oil-for-Food program and was wearing down support for continuing the sanctions keeping him in check.

He had numerous contacts with al Qaeda over the years. He tried to assassinate a former U.S. president. He maintained research capabilities to implement nuclear, chemical and biological weapons as soon as the sanctions were lifted. There is evidence that some of these programs would have been operational within a year even with the sanctions in place.

The decision to remove Saddam and his regime as part of the Global War on Terror was correct.

Three-and-a-half years after Iraq and the world were liberated from Saddam and his terrorist regime, there are those on Free Republic who are clamoring to give up, surrender, cut and run, stab the troops in the back, betray the Iraqis, betray our allies in the GWOT, spit on the graves of our fallen heroes and join Cindy Sheehan, Medea Benjamin and Ramsey Clark in bringing about America's defeat in the GWOT.

It's only been three-and-a-half years--only six months since the freely elected government in Iraq was formed. In that time, what has been called a mini-Marshall Plan of construction and reconstruction has come to fruition. The Iraqis have held three national elections, they have held numerous local elections, fourteen out of eighteen Iraq provinces are relatively peaceful and stable.

Six months ago, when the Iraqi government was formed, the experts said the war would be taken to Baghdad because our enemies in the region could not abide the example of a free, democratic society in the Middle East. For once, the experts were right. The battle of Baghdad has been a prolonged Tet Offensive style operation of headline-grabbing attacks intended to sap the morale of Americans and Iraqis alike.

From what I've been reading on Free Republic lately, a lot of Freepers have fallen for the enemy's ploy and are howling like barking moonbats for our immediate withdrawal from Iraq. Some of that talk is couched in talk of 'we're fighting a PC war like Vietnam!' The soldiers I met in Iraq recently told Debra Argel Bastian to pass on a message to the Vietnam vets criticizing the war: With all due respect to your service, this is not Vietnam. It is not being fought like Vietnam. Please let us finish our mission.

But our enemy is playing the Vietnam ploy to great benefit. They know they can count on the American and world media to broadcast their propaganda. They work with leftist Americans to sabotage the war effort at home. They know these leftist Americans have allies in the Democratic party. They know they do not need a military victory--only political and psychological victories are needed to defeat America.

You guys are playing right in to their hands. Congratulations.

There are those who argue that murder and dictatorship is the mindset of the Middle East and that will not be changed by our actions. Funny how those who smugly denigrate the Arab peoples' capacity for freedom forget the wholesale slaughter of millions of Westerners by Westerners at the hands of Western dictatorships just a few generations past.

I hear complaints that the Iraqis aren't standing up. Yet, to use one common example, when police recruits are slaughtered in bombings, Iraqis line up the next day at the same recruiting center. The insurgency is small in number, but they are able to do enough damage on a daily basis to stretch out the time it will take to secure the whole of Iraq.

At this time of our testing, the American people are starting to go wobbly. Sadly, many Freepers are too. Our troops and their Commander-in-Chief are not, thank God. It's only been three-and-a-half years. The progress made has been phenomonal. Throw in the towel now, and you'll just have the terrorists follow us home. Everyone knows that, including you. I'm not willing to pay that price, not now, not ever, but you are.

Let me close by offering similar sentiments recently offered by two men 'in the know' on the situation in Iraq who are not giving up. First, Kurdish Regional Government Prime Minister Barzani: "When I was in the United States recently and read the negative news in the Washington Post, New York Times and in the network TV broadcasts, I even wondered if things had gotten so bad since I had left that I shouldn't return."

Next, Gen. Abizaid: "When I come to Washington, I feel despair. When I'm in Iraq with my commanders, when I talk to our soldiers, when I talk to the Iraqi leadership, they are not despairing."

Back off Jack! Many of us on here have THE SOLUTION, but are never considered or listened to. We don't need a pullout, we need a complete mop up operation with no mercy. To continue like it's going is insane. When this administration and especially the Democrats finally find out the HARD WAY that we're right -- then at that time perhaps YOU too will understand. Get a life.

LOL! Sorry, I mean you're right but, LOL! Blackbird.

I'm sorry. In retrospect that was rather rude of me. I was very tired at the time and had to hit the sack.
And I gotta get ready for work in a few minutes.
But you deserve feedback. Since we are not at war with Iraq I can't use that word. But I am in support of the continued SASO as required.
And I am in support of the SASO in Afghanistan.
For those of us that do not hold similiar or same feelings on this issue, some who fully supported going to war and the first stages of the SASO, I respect their change in attitude. Some are so pissed off at how the L/MSM and other goofs are shading the whole operation, they probably figure there is no way to convince the American public of why we have to stay, and just have given up.
I really gotta run. But am open to further dialog between our membership. Have a great day.

FR has become infested with frauds; they claim to be "CONSERVATIVES", but they don't know the meaning of that word.

It appears that the frauds have been here since like, 1998

Good job, Kristinn. I'm sick to death of cut and run freepers; shame on them. We absolutely cannot let our military men and women down again and let the sacrifices they have made be for nothing.

And speaking of memories of that time, I recall vividly when Ho Chi Minh died the entire Vietnames nation went into mourning. North and South, Catholic and Buddhist, everybody cried.

Gawd, you are pathetic. I guess it doesn't occur to you that failing to act in the manner prescribed by a communist government will tend to get you sent to a summer camp where the proper respect for authority will be either instilled in you or you will be instilled in the ground.

You're just as bad as the leftists who apologize for Castro.

Wars are not won by those that have the most planes, the most men, the most ships, or by those that kill the most of their enemies, wars are won by those that fight to win whose resolve to win outweighs all other factors.

Every time I read how we should bomb the innocent until the resolve of our enemies is broken I have to wonder how many of our "Carpet Bombers" have studied war as we have fought it. This country choses it targets wisely and efficiently, fights it's wars to suffer the least amount of casualties on both sides while achieving it's tactical and strategic objectives.

We want to establish democracy in Iraq, so what better way to prove they need it to live together then to allow a certain level of violence to rise up and try to stop the process. Mookie and his followers could be destroyed in a heartbeat if we wanted to and we have the means and the equipment to do so, but not the reason. Having him try to disrupt the process of the establishment of a democratic Iraq, tests the process, decides who stands where and for what side, shows us our foes, and marks those that are with us instead of just playing along for the time when they can kill democracy in it's tracks.

Our troops aren't playing policeman as some have suggested , they are scouting the opposition, figuring out who is who, and planning for the next battle, the battle that will forge a new nation that we can depend upon.

Thank you for the sacrifices you have made for this nation, as well as those you continue to make, you are not one of the lesser Americans.

You do know that there are over 300,000 Iraqis trained or being trained, don't you?

Ummm....yeah, and we can all see how well that's working can't we.

We signed a hell of a nice treaty with the Japs. They were very cooperative. Their emperor ordered them to cut it out. They turned their talents inward, and have become formidible industrialists, which took about 30 years and lots of advice from a scattering of private US citizens who couldn't get the labor unions' ear in Detroit. They had attacked us, actually invaded parts of Alaska, which gave us the moral authority to beat the living tar out of them. It took a couple of nukes to do that. I don't see us as having the moral authority to nuke Iraq. We will not do in Iraq what it takes to bring the entire population to its knees, (they only do that for allah) nor probably should we. Afgahnistan, in late 2001, diffent story. Wish we were still in Afgahnistan, more than Iraq. Maybe this thread should have been posted right after operation Anaconda. What is going to bring the Jihaddies to their knees, the way the Emperor was brought to his? Are we even fighting the Jihaddies now in Iraq? or acting as referrees in a minefeild?

Foreign countries didn't intervene in our "civil" war. We ARE in a position to take that position.

We've got Saddam out, his sons won't be carrying his regime on, and there are no WMDs in Iraq. There are enough Iraqis who can keep AlQaeda from taking over the oil fields, if they want to. If AlQaeda siezes the oil fields or Iraq degenerates in our absence to the detriment of NATO countries, there will be enough international interest to form a coalition on par with the first gulf war to clean the place back up. We've been darn successful.

The Iraqis are just trying to let Allah sort things out, now that the lid's off. Time for a gradual exit, which we all knew was going to happen anyway, right? I sure don't want any bases in Iraq, any more than Reagan wanted Marines in Beirut after that bombing. The Dems have just been running to the front of the parade, trying to take credit for getting us out of a place we were going to leave anyway. It's best now that we remain as strong and unspent as possible for any annihilations that will be required in the future, and not get too emotionally involved in Iraqi welfare.

It's the same in Iraq. All that we really need to do to make America safe from terror is (1) secure the borders (duh!), (2) stop taking Muslim immigrants and encourage those Muslims already here to go elsewhere, (3) train and send covert forces to hunt down international terrorists and kill them.

Common sense? NOT allowed! Good one though. Blackbird.

I hear a radio story about how snipers are ham stung by bureacratic rules.

I heard that story as well. I believe it was Roger Hedgecock subbing for Rush earlier this week. He explained that because two two-man sniper teams were ambushed and killed, bureaucrats have felt the need to change the rules. Now only one-man sniper teams are used, and I suspect that greatly decreases their effectiveness. Actually, he cited that sniper kills were down considerably.

I had lunch with an Iraq war veteran yesterday and we discussed this story. He shook his head remorsefully, explaining that sniper activity is his preferred method (safer) of engagement.

p.s. To anyone on this tread that claims the administration lied to us about WMD's in Iraq. Please view my profile page. No lies were told.
