I just want to have a thread to discuss House Rep. Duncan Hunter who is going to be one of our GOP nominees. Seems as if a lot of people on FR are complaining about our choices for 2008 when this great man is going to be in the race as well. I just think he needs to get some coverage and wanted to start this thread.
He is the man conservatives should get behind and I think he deserves his own thread to remind us that we do have a great candidate this time if we'd only realize it.

Romney/Hunter!!
Thank you VERY MUCH!!! Impressive individual, indeed!!!
I guess the big question, unfortunately, is how does he come across on television. Is he charasmatic? Can he attract (or at least not repel) the female vote?
I heard Roger Hedgecock on Rush today while he interviewed Duncan Hunter. Hunter is articulate and easy to listen to. He officially has my attention.
Oh wow. I missed that. What did he talk about? Did he say when he will officially come out as a candidate?
I didn't catch the entire interview. At least I don't think I did. The part I heard they were discussing the fence along the southern border, it's effectiveness and the law.
Much of what Hunter said was simply common sense, although that is such a rare commodity in DC. I was as interested in the way Hunter spoke as much as what he said.
From my standpoint, I just had never heard him talk. There are countless politicians that see the world the same way I do. I doubt they are electable to national office, though, because they present themselves to the public, perhaps the same way I do. That is, I doubt I'm the most charismatic character on almost any stage.
Truly conservative ideas sell well to the mass market if the seller has an attractive aura. So much of that, unfortunately, depends on his ability to speak. I believe that is one of the things that did in Gore. When he talks he sounds like Forrest Gump. I think the Gump character is a bit brighter than is Gore, and that hurt him also.
The thing of it is, is I think the masses really want someone to vote FOR, someone who embodies a traditional American culture and sincerely strikes the right chord on the majority of the issues about which we fight so fiercely. If Hunter feels about most other domestic issues, judges and foreign policy as I do, I would like to hear him make his case. I hope his record matches his rhetoric.
If he is that person, I don't think it would take him long to leave behind the likes of McCain as if McCain were nailed to the ground. Such a person will gather in the Republican base that has been so badly abused by Bush and Hastert and Frist AND McCain and that ilk. These are people who WANT to participate again but want a reason to participate.
I'd like to hear more from Hunter.
Mike Huckabee
Sonny Perdue
Mitt Romney
Pawlenty
Haley Barbour
Are all Gop Gov's that should be looked At.
Hunter's new website just launched:
http://www.peacethroughstrengthpac.com/
Thank you!
Yes, much as Bentson helped Dukakis carry Texas, Gore carried Tennesse and Edwards helped to carry North Carolina.
Amen.
Duncan Hunter would be a great President, how about Sam Brownback for VP? He is running too. If Duncan can win in California (55 electoral votes) and the usual Red states I figure he would get 275 electoral votes. He could win.
I would vote for Duncan Hunter absoltely!!
If I can't vote for him then I would vote for Newt.
Give me a conservative, no more rino's!
I flagged it for hate speech.
Awesome, Hunter is fantastic!
You are kidding right? Obama is ugly, barf type ugly to the max.
Indeed!... But I MA WAITING for him to make his move! :)
That's why we're talking about him.
