Wireless technology made me sick

t is the hi-tech tool that has revolutionised home and office alike - but a growing band of campaigners claim wi-fi is a major threat to health.

Sufferers say the electro-magnetic waves emitted by wireless computer networks - wi-fi - leave them feeling exhausted, nauseous and sleepless.

Author Kate Figes, spent hundreds of pounds installing wireless internet in her Stoke Newington home, then found it made her so ill she had to scrap it.

Ms Figes, 49, claims she is so sensitive to wi-fi's electro-magnetic waves she can instantly tell whether it is installed in a particular room.

Chris Guy, head of Reading University's School of Systems Engineering said: "The amount of power emitted by wi-fi devices is about a tenth of that given out by mobile phones. It is very, very unlikely that it is harmful because the power levels are so low. I just do not believe wi-fi is damaging people's health."

This "crisis" just started in the UK and is certain to spread like a plague.

Anybody care to place bets as to how long it will take US tort lawyers to start to file against worker's comp policies and bring ADA suits against employers?

This is BS pure and simple. Easy to claim, hard to disprove... A goldmine for the right tort lawyer.

...leave them feeling exhausted, nauseous and sleepless.

Maybe they're just spending too much time on the Internet in the wrong places.

We should start claiming that Tort Lawyers are a prime cause of Cancer, indigestion, backache and increased PMS effects....

The government needs to take action against this newly discovered menace....

What a coinky-dinky...I was just working on this for my morning newscast. Here's the version I put together.

WAY BACK WHEN AS RADIO AND TV BECAME POPULAR SOME PEOPLE COMPLAINED THAT THE ELECTRO-MAGNETIC WAVES WERE MAKING THEM SICK.

AS TECH PROGRESSED MORE AND MORE PEOPLE COMPLAINED ABOUT EVERYTHING ELECTRIC FROM BLANKETS TO HIGH TENSION WIRES.

WITH THE ADVENT OF CELL PHONES EVEN MORE PEOPLE JUMPED ON THE BANDWAGON.

SO WHAT'S THE LATEST "EVERYBODY PANIC SCARE?"

WIFI BROADCASTING FOR INTERNET ACCESS AND LOCAL NETWORKS.

ONE WOMAN CLAIMS THAT AFTER HER HOUSE WAS WIRED FOR WIFI SHE COULDN'T SLEEP... WAS EXHAUSTED AND NAUSEOUS.

HEALTH AND TECH EXPERTS SAY THE LEVEL OF POWER USED IN WIFI IS SO LOW...ABOUT A TENTH LOWER THAN CELL PHONES...THAT IT COULDN'T POSSIBLY BE A PROBLEM, BUT YOU WANNA BET THAT TORT LAWYERS ARE DROOLING AND LINING UP TO FILE THE FIRST CASE.

Sorry for the caps but I copied and pasted from my work copy.

What? You're not going to use my tin-foil alert??? Don't you feel it's a public service to include that warning?

How about getting rid of the peroxide and paying for acting lessons? It would save the lamest character on the show. :-)

Its been here several times before...

All the "cases" I've heard of always involved women...

The same claims were made with satellite signals back in the 80's. The next was cell phone base stations... And the beat goes on...

Wi-Fi would be fine for humans if its waves did not combine with Global Warming to create the greatest threat to life on this planet EVER!

According to Al Gore who invented the internet and therefore is responsible for the dreaded WIFI development, we have about 5 years before WIFI kills all of us.

I know a man who is extremely sensitive to electromagnetic radiation. So sensitive, in fact, that he could only sit in front of a computer monitor for about 30 minutes before he started breaking out in a rash. That's pretty tough for somebody making a living as a computer consultuant.

I bought him a monitor that was sheilded against emissions, and the condition improved tremondously. (this was about ten years ago). Now, with an LCD monitor and a stick-on screen guard, he has no trouble at all.

Even my friend has never complained about the emissions from power lines, microwave ovens or wireless devices.

OK, we are bombarded with any number of cosmic rays on any given day. There's no hiding from them and there are some who are convinced that those same caused massive genetic mutations that made small single celled organism evolve into bipedal organisms who took over and now run the planet.

I hear descendants of the single celled organisms are starting a lawsuit for reparations.

Well, I smell some sort of major class action lawsuit, anyways. Hold onto your walllets, cell-phone manufacturers.

Fluoescent lights hurt my eyes - the flicker is very disturbing.

Phones, Wi-FI, cell phone towers, police towers and mobiles, TV, Radio, Electromagnetic sun spot storms all add to the RF microvoltage invisible background load. And it does make a difference.

Maybe that's why the ancient wizards/sorcerers/etc wore those funny looking metal head helmets as in the movie about King Arthur from 20 years ago.

Alzheimer's and general brain degeneration and memory loss are two symptoms of extended exposure to high RF levels.

Just like radioactivity - it's invisible, and humans can't sense it until its too late unless your teeth pick up am radio stations due to loose filings...

This is BS pure and simple. Easy to claim, hard to disprove... A goldmine for the right tort lawyer.

There probably is an association between lack of sleep and connectivity of all sorts-WiFi, Bluetooth, etc. that can be proven if someone wants to do so.

But it has to do with the CONTENT, not the technology.

There is so much neat stuff available, why sleep any more? And while you enjoy it, get bombarded with IM's, cellphone calls, spam, and other interruptions and distractions.

I do know people who are so "connected" that they have, in the course of a few years, lost most of their conventional interpersonal skills, and contact in "Meatspace" with family and friends.

Blaming the invisible waves is so much better than admitting they have a problem or an addiction.

I do.

My niece makes fun of me for my attitude towards my cellphone, and calls me a "Girl".

HAHAHA! Old enough to be a grandfather and he downloads ringtones! Hahaha!
