~ FReeper Canteen ~
Happy Thanksgiving to all of our Troops, Veterans, Allies, and to your family members. Thank you for allowing us all to celebrate a day to give Thanks!

Welcome to the Canteen!

We're going to revisit an old question, but give it a more holiday twist.

Since most of you will have Thanksgiving off and perhaps even Friday as well, here's our question:

What are the best movies for the holiday?

The best family movie that can be enjoyed by everyone?

The best thriller for those who need suspense?

The best comedy movie for those who need a laugh?

The best movie based on a real life person or event?

Once again, from all of us at the Canteen:

We wish everyone a safe and happy Thanksgiving week!

Miracle of 34th Street (already watched in once w/ the kids) - But it MUST be the original!

Of course the original!

Saw a show a few years ago on the making of the movie. Natalie Wood really believed the Edmund Gwenn was Santa. At the party ofter they were done shooting, he had shaved off his his beard and Natalie was tramatized!!

One more I forgot to mention

Christmas in Connecticut w/ Barbara Stanwyck.

Not a real classic like many other movies, but it is funny & having lived in Connecticut my entire life, I have never seen a Christmas w/ the snow and the sleighs in that movie.

And, when I was watching ihte movie a few years ago, my 97 year old father, who has also lived in Connecticut his entire life - said he had never seen a Christimas like the one in the movie either - LOL

Good morning, everybody.

For comedy and family movies, Home Alone 1 and 2. I really love the scene in 2 where Marv (Daniel Stern) is trying to clean the paint off his face, and grabs the faucet handles on the deep sink that little Kevin has hooked to an arc welder. Watch the evil look on Kevin's face as he turns the power up. Also, Harry (Joe Pesci) lowering his head into the toilet that is filled with flammable liquid in an effort to put out the fire on his head.

We are at the Sac Airport with Robert now to see him off on his return trip. His two weeks at home was very nice, and we can't wait until he comes home again after his tour is up.

The only christmas movie we watch here is the 1951 British
version of "A Christmas Carol" with Alastair Sim as Scrooge. I
grew up watching that version, so of course I think he was the best.

Home Alone for the music and for the scene in the church with the old man who talks about what happened between him and his son.
