Funny how the Dems did not mention during the campaign that reinstating the draft would be a number one priority.

"There's no question in my mind that this president and this administration would never have invaded Iraq, especially on the flimsy evidence that was presented to the Congress, if indeed we had a draft and members of Congress and the administration thought that their kids from their communities would be placed in harm's way..."

And so what is the point here? I bet they would not have voted for WWII if women could have been drafted. So what?

Isn't it just like Rengel's generation of socialist democrats to protest the most when they were of draft age, but as soon as they have power, insist younger generations give more than they did?

"And so what is the point here?"

To keep blaming Bush, of course.

Wasn't it Nixon who can rid of the draft.

The draft is bad for the military because today's soldier is a professional with lots of training and good morale.

A draftee is none of those things.

Democrats WANT MILITARY FAILURE. Instituting a draft is the way to assure that.

Bringing back the draft is just another way to get draft card burnings, sit ins, college protests, Canada border jumpers and all the 60s stuff to come back.

Yes, a draft could bring in numbers but also a whole lot more headaches.

That may be the only thing I agree with Charlie Rangel about. (Speaking as a draftee myself.)

First to go should be all those late teen to late 20-somethings who seem to have time and money to stand outside of Best Buy for 3-4 days waiting to spend $500 on a PS3. So many idle hands, so many needs. If so many young people have time to waste standing in line for a toy that allows one to spend hours at a time doing nothing, then, perhaps, we do need a draft.

Wow. I would have sworn he brought this up before to screw with the Repubs. I figured he brought it to the floor to see how many Repubs would vote for it and then complain about it in the media. But I do see the point of wanting the military to fail. Those in the military don't want draftees. Draftees don't want to be there, thus they can be dangerous to their fellow troops.

We need to do whatever we can on here (the Internet) and in real life to let everyone know, especially kids of draft age, about this bill. If Hillary thinks she will float into the White House on the "let's draft everyone's children" plank, we should help her.

Charlie the Chump needs to check in with the Pentagon. Most of the services are cutting back in their ranks. The Air Force is releasing 40,000 people. I think the Chump is being motivated by his desire to allow "gay" people who are "involuntarily" drafted to publicly announce to the world that they are homosexuals and flaunt their sexual disorientation. It's all part of the 'RATS plan to destroy the military.

If they had said that (the truth), they would have lost every vote of the 18 to 25 year olds.

I dont believe we should have done away with the draft to begin with. I think they should call Charlie Rangel's bluff and reinstate it.

Rangel of course somehow in his twisted mind believes that if the democrats bring back the draft they can blame it on the President. I fail to understand how he intends to bring that about , but lets give him a shot.

A draft called for by democrats and passed in a Democrat majority should sink their ship in 2008 . Especially when the NOW cows find that women will be subject to the new draft.

So I say go Charlie, make an even bigger fool of yourself.

He did the same damn thing in 2004 so the dims could scare people into voting for them, by claiming that President Bush was going to bring back the draft. Even though it was HIS legislation. And then he called foul when Republicans brought it up for a vote because he didn't actually want to *pass* his own legislation, he just wanted to be a complete jackass. Which he regularly succeeds in doing.

A senior House Democrat said Sunday he will introduce legislation to reinstate the military draft,

Hasn't Charlie done this in the past but the legislation never got out of committee..... This time with the dems in control I guess the thinks it'll get out and brought to the floor.

This maybe part of the process to end their control of Congress faster.
