The draft is bad for the military because today's soldier is a professional with lots of training and good morale.

A draftee is none of those things.

Democrats WANT MILITARY FAILURE. Instituting a draft is the way to assure that.

Excuse me. The draft furnished the bulk of the U.S military in WW I, WW II,Korea and Viet Nam. I wouldn't call any of them "military failures". I would call the last two "political failures", caused by no stones on, and no patience in, the body politic.

I have always believed in the draft. One thing sadly missing in this country is a sense of civic duty. the draft provided that. Only good conclusion [albeit for the wrong reason] Rangel's ever had.

You got it. By making military service wildly unpopular, by painting it as a tool of the wealthy to further persecute the poor, and by assuring that the quality of the military will plummet, rangel hopes to destroy our military.

"There's no question in my mind that this president and this administration would never have invaded Iraq, especially on the flimsy evidence that was presented to the Congress, if indeed we had a draft and members of Congress and the administration thought that their kids from their communities would be placed in harm's way,"

Democrat Socialist/Communist code words for "If we had more boys that didn't want to be there we could foment fraggings, strikes and revolts."

"Our mislead soldiers would throw down their weapons and leave the battle just as the Czar's troops did in 1917."

"Our Socialist utopia would be at hand and I would be the most powerful man in the world."
