I want to Thank all "Conservative" Non-Voters
November 18, 2006 | new yorker 77

Thank you for giving us blanket amnesty for illegals.

Thank you for courageously abandoning our troops.

Thank you for handing victory to the terrorists.

Thank you for guaranteeing higher taxes.

Thank you for guaranteeing no more conservative judges.

Thank you for empowering John McCain.

Thank you for bringing back universal health care.

Thank you for endless investigations.

Most of all, I want to thank you for showing complete disregard for the tens of thousands who spilled their blood to give you your right to vote.

Your callous, self-serving apathy has guaranteed the government actions that you so bitterly complained about.

A final reality check to all you non-voters who still call your self conservative:

You are not a conservative.
You define un-American.
You define un-patriotic.
Please stop pretending to care about the troops.

To all you people who actually voted.

Thank you for defending our Constitution.

I held my nose and voted Repub and got universal state healthcare, a ban on drug ads, and a statewide ban on smoking from our Republican governor for my troubles. Tell me again how voting Republican was going to help these issues?

See, this is EXACTLY what's wrong with the GOP. It's this pompous, elitist, smug attitude they displayed to the grassroots. "Oh those conservatives will vote for us, trust us!" They keep trying to scare conservatives with this VOTE FOR US OR ELSE PELOSI WILL BE SPEAKER! crap, the "lesser of the two evils," all the while thinking that the magical "R" next to politicians' name is going to seal the deal for them. They apparently forgot that conservatives don't march in lockstep like Dim voters do. We analyze the issues and the candidates, and if they don't represent our views, why vote for them?

Thanks, great post EEE! Blackbird.

Save the hysterics. Waving Pelosi's hideous death grimace at them didn't worth this time round. It won't work next time round.

Give conservatives a real choice by fronting genuinely conservative candidates and they will be motivated to vote. Conservatives are better motivated by principles, commitment, and ideas than they are by personalities.

Moving leftward to the "moderate center" (as it has been denoted by the flaming far left media) in 2008 will merely ensure that the Republican turnout stays depressed.

Worse, if we don't front genuine social conservatives on the Republican side and Dems offer socially conservative candidates as they did this time, many otherwise dependable Republican social conservatives will switch over and vote for the Democrat.

Think: Zell Miller versus Arlen Specter. Who would YOU vote for?

It is the GOP that let everyone down, not some mythical block of "conservative non-voters"

Correct.

In my district, about 10-15 percent of Republican voters simply did not show up to vote. They hid under their pillows.

They were effectively demoralized by the "record number" of deaths in Iraq, which the Bush-hating media repeated over and over the last two weeks in October.

And others were distressed and upset that pervs like Foley could have been 'hidden' in the GOP-led Congress all these years.

Not to mention jailbirds Cunningham, Ney, and Abrahamoff.

And the Bush Admin, with the GOP congress, totally screwed up any benefit the GOP MIGHT HAVE GOTTEN from the immigration issue.

Yes, they passed the border fence, but it was so late in the election cycle that it GOT LOST in the haze as the bomb throwing partisans gobbled up all the news cycles.

And then it was reported that the GOP Congress did not properly fund the fence, which meant that a future Congress could simply squash the whole thing.

So the pro-open borders crowd was ticked at the GOP, and the anti illegal immigration crowd was ALSO ticked at the GOP.

What a disaster. The GOP has itself to blame mostly, along with some blame naturally to the DNC-network collaboration news.

My Grandmother used to tell me that when the Lord handed you a lemon, you should learn to make lemonade. If people are frustrated put your frustration to work. If you are member of the GOP it is time to insist on a few changes. If you aren't involved with your local party it is time to get involved in order to go to the next convention to make sure that conservatives run the GOP instead of RINO's.

Conservatives didn't lose. The Pubbies lost. We've been telling them for years now to straighten themselves out, secure the borders, stop spending like Rats, make the tax cuts permanent, etc., but they wouldn't listen. No, the Pubbies just want us to shut up and vote for them, whether we like it or not. So they can go pound sand for all I care...if they learn their lesson, there's a chance in '08. If not, well...

If its a choice between Socialist and Socialist Light, a choice between death by slow poisoning or death by a quick bullet to the head, driving over a cliff at 80mph or 120mph, well I say let's get to the bottom ASAP, so we can get about cleaning up the mess that much quicker. I don't like prolonged agony.

However, I don't agree with not voting at all. It's not only our right, but our responsibility. I'm not a shill for a 3d party, but my advice to folks is vote for the person you believe in. Fortunately for us in Idaho, we had a very clear choice for a conservative Congressman and Governor, they being Bill Sali and Butch Otter respectively.

Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!

They don't?

How'd we get the House, the Senate, the White House and the majority of governorships and hold them for so long if they "don't vote"?

You're just dead-set on blaming conservative voters because you're incapable of criticizing your party and you refuse to accept that independents turned on us. There's a lot of this sort of misdiagnoses going on.

I attribute it to those "conservatives" who believe every conservative issue should involve God and center around abortion, immigration or vegetative states.

They are Alan Keyes "conservatives"-like Limbaugh, Coulter, Hannity, Levin, Malkin, etc., types who believe the role of government is to enforce certains standards as defined by them, and to protect us from ourselves.

As if the party doesn't play favorites in the primaries.
