As Mary Hendron undoubtedly has realized to her dismay, it's becoming impossible to tell the truth in this country.

When I was in a teen in the '70's growing in up in Indiana, there were places in Chicago that had the same reputation, (heroin) and were warned by our local Indiana tourism groups to avoid when visiting the "Windy City".

Gotta target that all-important crackhead tourist market, you know.

Ah, yes...the historic Crack District.

Must be the neighborhood where the locals spray-painted "Honky Lips" on the Griswold Family Truckster.

I've been pulled over in North St Louis when I was trying to take a short cut. The cop said he pulled me over because I "didn't fit in" ie I was either lost and in danger or there for a crack purchase(I'm white).

What's the problem? Just a few years ago Minneapolis, MN was referred to as Murderapolis. The thing of it is is, about 95% of the murders took place in two extremely concentrated areas of the city. In the rest of the city you could leave your house and hardly ever get murdered.

St. Louis officials argue that more than 1 million people live in suburbs outside the city and including them in studies would greatly dilute the overall crime rate. Translation: The city's crime rate isn't all that bad, once you include the rest of the state.
