TRENTON, Nov. 15 A lesbian couple in South Jersey won court approval this week to have both of their names listed as parents on the birth certificate of their newborn, and the attorney generals office said it will no longer oppose such applications.
The decision, in Family Court in Burlington County, stems from an Oct. 25 ruling by the New Jersey Supreme Court holding that same-sex couples are entitled to the same legal rights and protections as heterosexual couples. The court gave the Legislature 180 days either to bring gay couples within the states marriage laws or establish a parallel system of civil unions.
This couple was treated exactly the same way as a married couple under the law of New Jersey, said Stephen Hyland, the lawyer for the women. So no matter what New Jersey chooses to do legislatively, the couples have the same rights.
As the Legislature debates in the next six months, youll see these life-and-death issues, said Suzanne B. Goldberg, a Columbia University law professor. Birth and death will not stop while the Legislature is working. State agencies and courts will find themselves wrestling with the issues.
The baby was born on Tuesday one day after an agreement on the names was reached in a closed Family Court proceeding.
The Burlington County couple, who asked not to be identified, their lawyer said, because they did not want to draw attention to themselves, now do not have to go through an adoption proceeding to establish full parental rights for both. These rights include inheritance, custody and visitation.
In a previous case, in May 2005, the Superior Court in Essex County ruled that a lesbian couple was entitled to have the names of both women listed on their babys birth certificate.

The NJ courts are through the looking glass. Mad as hatters.
'
Genetically, that child has a father whether the courts admit it or not. What a stupid, utterly mornic precedent--all to appease the mentally-ill SSAD crowd.

"By the way, can we assume this was the turkey baster style conception?"
Unless one of the women is capable of producing sperm in her, um, somehow or something, the sperm, baster inserted or not, came from a male somewhere, and one of these women had absolutely nothing to do with the conception.
It seems laws don't have to recognize reality anymore, even the reality of laws of nature.

They may think they are making inroads but they, in fact, are going against God's will and that is the rub. It will never be ok with Him.

So right on. Tain't no baby being born without a man somewhere involved. Just as God designed it. In actuality, the poor kid doesn't know his/her father exists until old enough to understand and the real mother is at fault for this. Just puts the kid at risk for unbelievable trauma, getting worse as the years go by. Our court system is gone.
OJ proved that, but that's another part of the story..

Any law that is this far out of phase with the Natural Law may be ignored because it is illegitimate on its face.

This is child abuse--pure and simple.True, because the fact that the birth certificate ignores is that half of the baby's DNA comes from the unmentioned father. Like it or not, a man was somehow involved.

The leftists on the courts care more about the destruction of American society--in truth, they care NOTHING about the children forced into such grotesque situations. That's all this is about. Creating another generation of severely messed up kids who will be become severely dysfunctional adults who will become wards of the government/Democrat party.
Buy stock now in any company that makes pyschoactive drugs. The coming generations will make the dysfunctions of the Baby Boomers and Gen X look like a walk in the park.

They are opposing "Natural Law". Natural Law was what guided most of Founding Fathers in the development of the Constitution and even more so the Declaration of Independence. Natural Law is not some mystical concept, but the conscience of humankind. When you are following your conscience to are adhering to Natural Law. We all inherently know, even if we do not want to admit it, what is right and wrong. Homosexuality is wrong, the same way that bestiality or pedophilia are wrong. They are obvious deviations from Natural Law. No matter how hard the G&L crowd yells , Natural Law will not and can not be changed.

My kids do, too.
That's why they confide a lot in their DAD.
I think maybe God had some sort of balance in mind.

Presumably, if one of my girlfriends gives birth in New Jersey, I can have my name and all twelve of my other girlfriends' names listed as legal parents on the birth certificate, provided everyone listed is an adult and consents to it. I hope this would be the case, since I wouldn't want to be discriminated against.

Notice how the baby in this article, "newborn" is treated as an "it." The sex of the baby was not mentioned. That likley means the child is a boy, who will grow up feminized and whussy pipped.
Alas Babylon!!!!!!!!!!!
The liberal socialist moonbats want to prevent our nation from the testeronic vaguries which result in men who can defend our freedom.
So much for NJ. It has gone.

This child is being deprived of the truth and may wind up being resentful because of that.
To: kiriath_jearim
Why isn't the father suing for shared custody? Was this a sperm bank kid? Should I actually read the article?
