I really do not agree that Murtha winning would be good for the GOP.

I agree with your view. There's wishful thinking going on. In fact Murtha, Kennedy and the rest have already had a lot of face time. Their repugnant views have been made quite clear to America for quite a while....and obviously it hasn't hurt their party too much.

How does Murtha's loss or concession hurt the GOP?

Because he is a raving nutbag moonbat who is highly corrupt. George Soros' group CREW named him the most corrupt member of congress! And Soros and CREW are ultra lefties.

Having this corrupt moonbat as the democrats majority leader would have been very helpful to the GOP.

MATTHEWS: Eyeball to eyeball, you’ve got them?

MURTHA: Eyeball to eyeball.

So he's a liar. No surprise there.

Or maybe the truth redeployed to Okinawa...or maybe mysterious Arab visitors traded the truth for a sachel of fifties...

Hoyer's victory means that the Democrats will be more centrist and reasonable in their public policy approach, particularly in foreign policy matters; and generally less confrontational with the White House.

If I were a moderate Democrat elected from a swing district, I would feel much relieved and much politically safer under the guidance of Hoyer than Murtha.

This is politically good for House Democrats, and politically bad for the House GOP. The Democratic caucus was damn smart on this.

Ah. You'd think that as a moderate Democrat from Virginia, I would know that. Thank you. :-D

Not if the NutRoots, who honestly beleive they are the reason the democrats won have anything to say about it.

This is fun times boys and girls. I said Nancy would be herding cats, but I never thought in my wildest dreams that she would pick such a stupid fight 9 days after the election. Hoyer should be a real helper. LOL! HAPPY DAYS!

Yep, it a very inauspicious start for queen bee Nancy, who's probably got a lot more enemies in her own party now than she had last week because of her blantant backstabbing of Hoyer. He's not going to forget this...

" What is the skinny on Alcee Hastings? "

Keep in mind that the Democrats campaigned on ridding DC of corruption.
Pelosi's first pick for leadership was an unindicted co conspirator caught on video telling the bribers to get back to him.
Her second pick for leadership is Alcee Hastings -for the House Intelligence Committee.
Hastings was a District Court judge in Florida who took a 150,000 dollar bribe from two mobsters in a racketeering trial.
Hastings also committed perjury and was impeached by the Democrat controlled House of Representatives and removed from the bench by the Senate.
Only six judges in the history of the country have been removed by the US Senate.
He was later elected to the House as a Democrat.
And now Nancy wants to elevate this bum to the House Intelligence Committee.

I certainly don't think the Netroots delivered Congress back to the Dems, but they sure didn't hurt. Case in point: just under $1M came from ActBlue (NetRoots) to Jim Webb's campaign. Although the FEC isn't reporting final numbers of dollars actually raiseed, it seems to be around $9.5M total. 10% from the internet ranks at least sends a message.

I also get mixed messages about what FRers think about the NetRoots - in one post (sorry, can't remember which) a FRer indicated that the NetRoots out hustled and out played their conservative counterprarts and gave them some measure of credit. Others seem to dismiss them entirely. Is there a prevailing opinion?

Bear in mind that I would consider myself a limited member of the NetRoots in that I did a great deal of online organizing and activism. However, I was also involved at the State and local party levels and did traditional door-to-door volunteering as well. So I guess I'm a hybrid.

Honest answer - and for full disclosure, I'm a Republican ;^)!

Murtha lost by a landslide, NO concession...his loss helps the GOP, IMO.

He, the creator of the cut & run mantra, was defeated handedly even though he was publicly supported by Pelosi who shares his views...this is going to cause remarkable outrage amongst the angry looney leftists of your party.

Therefore, were soon it is going to be most evident to the American people that although Congress has changed hands President Bush was right all along about the war...it MUST be won and is NOT as Pelosi said just a 'situation to be resolved.'

Don't mistake what I posted. Did the NutRoots have an impact, likely a positive one for the democrats? No doubt. The problem is that the democrats, in order to maintain their majority and hopefully expand it in 2008 along with capturing the White House are going to have to continue to veer to the right. The NutRoots who are basking in the victory and taking credit for it are extreme left and are going to expect extreme left action from the democrats. A conflict is a brewing.
