Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney has hired several of Jeb Bushs top aides, leading to speculation that Romney may be courting the outgoing Florida governor for a possible Romney-Bush 2008 ticket for the White House.
After Bushs former chief of staff and top political adviser, Sally Bradshaw, joined Romneys Commonwealth political action committee earlier this month, Romney flew to Florida to join Bush for campaign events and fund-raisers - and to gauge Bushs interest in being a running mate, sources told the Boston Herald.
Soon after, Bushs chief finance director, Ann Woods Herberger, also joined Romneys political action committee.
Bush has ruled out running for president himself. But agreeing to accept the vice presidential post would allow him to "run on the national ticket without having to run for the ticket, since vice presidential candidates are chosen, not elected, political analyst David Mark, a former political reporter who covered Gov. Bush, told the Herald.

If they pick another melba toast elite rino Bush Im gonna lose it.
Sure, if you want to lose.
I'm sure Terri Schiavo loved him.
"Mitt and Jeb" sounds like a hillbilly band that took a wrong turn somewhere.
What state does Condi Rice win that Mitt wouldn't win with any other running mate? She has never even run for elected office much less served in any elected office. Unless a presidential or vice presidential candidate is a famous victorious general, the lack of previous experience in elected office should be a disqualification.
Boehner - Watts
I kind of like the thought of this match up. I have to think about it some more and read some more on John Boehner. JC is always on my list of great candidates for anything what so ever.
"Please, no more Bushes."
My thoughts exactly...
Strategically speaking I don't think floating this idea of a Romney-Bush ticket was very smart on Romney's part. If he's locked in "Bush Part III" as his choice for VP, other Republicans won't hold anything back in the primaries. They'll have nothing to lose or gain (VP spot) and go after Romney tooth and nail.
I'm not sold on Romney, it's way too early to pick a horse, but I will say he is one of only two individuals who has shown me that he can effectively communicate his ideas to an audience -- so very refreshing.
The other individual, in my mind, who offers strong leadership, ideas, personality, and depth, is our former Speaker of the House, Newt G. Everyone else in my opinion is either unstable or just a wanna-be.
Should be an interesting election.

Romney came in and cleaned up a corrupt organization; there's no way they can credibly pin that corruption on him. There's a difference between stretching the truth (such as in the Foley incident), something the media can do very well, and turning it around completely, something that usually discredits the accusing party.
If Jeb had won his race for Governor in 1994, he would have been the one who ran for President in 2000.
If I remember correctly, it was long thought to be that Jeb Bush were going to become a future President.
After all, President George W. Bush did not stop drinking alcohol until 1986.
I wish we could get someone like Zell Miller. I know he is a democrat but when he spoke at the republican national convention he was great. I suppose he is too old and it would be too hard to get him to switch parties. He is definitely articulate.
It doesn't work that way, kid. It's just baggage and mud.
Pick someone who has neither. That's how Abraham Lincoln won. That's how President Bush won (and the baggage/mud that turned up in the final week of his 2000 campaign almost sunk him).
And that also helped President Reagan win.
You don't want Watergate baggage. Why spend hours explaining to people that Nixon had no motive for bugging Democrats in the Watergate hotel 3 months before his election landslide (when he was already at the top of the polls)?!
That sort of thing gets in the way of your message and puts you on the defensive from Moment One.
Bad strategy.
Probably.
Romney's appeal will be on having nothing to do with any Bush.
And Florida wouldn't have been close on election night either.
I think most of us hear you loud and clear. No more of this name value crap. I was against Bush 41 because of him being a liberal Repub., although Reagan endorsed him. Junior is much better than dad ever was. However, I have to go with the responders who say "Bush Fatigue"
I like Jeb, and I think he is fine. If he is to get into the national picture, I think he must start at the level of Senator. Until that time if it ever comes, let's take a break.
Mahalo for your time.
Not a chance. I think Jeb is probably the most conservative of the group, but there's no way the voters will tolerate another Bush for awhile. He's going to wait till '12 or '16 before dipping his foot in that water.
"Let's give them a chance."
We will. But they'll have to stack up to the mark. I'd favor Jeb, not so sure about Romney.
It's not baggage, it's a compelling reason for someone concerned about ethics to vote for him. It would be virtually impossible to find a way to blame Romney for any of that corruption, while it's not hard to make the case he cleaned it up.
Novelty factor, mainly, which could be big on its own and important to counter Hillary (specifically, that Hillary is a woman, and that's the only (sad) reason many people will vote for her).
