Rep. John Murtha (D-Pa.) told a group of Democratic moderates on Tuesday that an ethics and lobbying reform bill being pushed by party leaders was "total crap," but said that he would work to enact the legislation because Speaker-to-be Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) supports it.
Murtha and Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) are locked in a battle for the House Majority Leader post, and both men made presentations for to the Blue Dog Coalition on Tuesday in a bid for their votes.
"Even though I think it's total crap, I'll vote for it and pass it because that's what Nancy wants," Murtha told the Blue Dogs, according to three sources who were at the meeting...
"Murtha is going to get a chance to see the view from under the bus when Pelosi pulls the cord.
Pass the popcorn."
Two years of these clowns should help us in '08.

Add these two to 'Pull out now' and 'Mr. Bush, tear down that fence' plus the inevitable tax and firearms efforts and the only thing we can hope for better is for Hillary to start talking about Socialized Medicine again. ;)
What an idiot. He should be voting on what his constituents want, and not just going along with what someone else wants. I can't, and I don't believe he won reelection! I think voter fraud gave it to him.

Yeah, they get lots of gifts. Congressman and senators do a lot more than just passing legislation. Even a slime ball like Murtha probably helped someone out with getting a scholarship/red tape/charity event. People constantly send in gifts.
We don't want Murtha playing dead...we like you just the way you are.
If they are truly getting tons of gifts from constituents, the $20 is low. Even if they don't get a lot $20 is too low. I would say $100 is a better limit, and that would be at the bottom end.
And its not like they are the ones who actually fill out the forms. I guarantee they have staff do it.
