Every day, I'm asked whom I'm supporting for President in 2008. I've looked over the potential candidates, and on the Republican side, I believe the best, by far, is Rudy Giuliani, who took the first step toward a run, yesterday, with an exploratory committee.
(On the Democratic side, the best guy who's been talked about as a Presidential contender is Senator Evan Bayh from Indiana, who truly understands the Islamic threat and is a more moderate Democrat--which is why he'll never get the nomination.)
Yes, I'm pro-life and against gay rights, where Giuliani shares neither of my views on these issues. But, to me, the terrorism issue is far more important, #1 on the list. Right now, we have a President who is pro-life, against gay rights, and pretends to be the "Counterterrorism Prez." But, actually, he's done nothing substantive on any of these issues.

So, I'll take the guy who I know will have the guts to do what Bush does not. I believe Giuliani is that man. He's proven that time and again, whether it was when he told terror-supporting Saudi Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal to take his $10 million and shove it (right after 9/11) or when he severely restricted Yasser Arafat's travel in New York (kicking him out of a concert).
A man who will do those things vs. Bush PC on Islam is the man we need to run this country. He's probably also the man who can handle the illegal alien problem and actually see to it that something is done about it. Not sure on his position on guest workers, but we'll soon enough find out.
It will be a difficult matter for a pro-choice, pro-gay rights candidate (and, again, I oppose Giuliani on these issues) to get the GOP nomination. We'll see.
So for those who want to know who I'm supporting for Prez, I say, "Viva Rudy." America's Mayor has what it takes to be America's President.

If Rudy has had a conversion and can sincerely renounce his liberalism he will win the nomination and the election (barring the usual unpredictables).
Such fantasies as that he would win because the Dems will run as the weak party on terrorism (!), or that he can win without renouncing his liberal past are useless.

I say go for it! Contact her and get the ball rolling. She could probably use our encouragement just to put up with some of the abuse the media dumps on her regularly. But she is wonderful at handling the media too. She takes no hostages. Remember her most recent confrontation with that "Wolf" on CNN?
She is always the lady...to me an amazing feat given some of characters she encounters. When you can give supremely better than you take and remain a lady; you've earned my respect!!

My biggest fear is if we don't put up a good alternative to McVain, say an 800-pound Gorilla like Giuliani, McVain will take his marbles and run as an independent. Can you say Madam President? I'm with Schlussel - taking a stance against Islamofascism and terrorism without being PC about it is #1 in my book. It's an issue people can agree on. McVain is a backstabber. If he doesn't get his way, watch out.
I see very little favorable coverage of any Republican in the Treason Media.
McCain has been a national figure for decades so having his name if front of us is nothing sinister. And I don't think it is going to matter anyway.
I would love to see Newt or somebody completely, faithfully conservative win, but I don't believe they could capture the votes of the critical TV-glued, MSM-programmed "independent" public.
I have plenty of reasons but won't speak for you. Existence has beauties both manifold and extensive.
None of my reasons to live involve politics at all.
I've often thought there are quite a few DU plants here too, masquerading as Christian conservatives looking out for the good of the GOP. And why are so many discrediting Romney due to his religion? That is quite bigoted. My favorite of them all is Guiliani and his social-issue views would not impact a presidency and judges he'd choose would be strict constructionists. His favorite of the Supremes is Scalia.
Unless they are bashing W or the GOP...
I am no big fan of McCain but do not believe he would do anything like that you fear. McCain thinks for himself and that can make him unpopular since he is somewhat unpredictable. But I don't believe him to be either disloyal or unstable. I don't fear him.
No doubt he did, but this further makes my point. He does the right thing and then, as he said recently on Glenn Beck: "...let the chips fall where they may."
When one has a core self so rock solid, he can always be counted to do the right thing...even in the face of momentous pressure to back down, he's my man!!
I understand your point concerning Nixon, but there is where the parallels between the two men end. That is just my opinion.

You are exactly right that if there is no alternative there is no win but once again I will not vote for he/she who is contradictory to my moral beliefs just because he/she is less worse than the other.
We need a President with the cojones to take on Islamofascism. Like Debbie Schlussel, I don't buy into Rudy Guiliani's pro-choice and pro-gay views. But he does understand what is at stake with the enemy we face. For me, that's #1. If we don't win the War On Terror, nothing else will matter. Conservatives should see Hillary isn't up to the job. Evan Bayh is the one Democrat who might fit that bill, which is why the Democrats will never nominate him. Let's hear it for the heroic Mayor Of New York! ""
I agree. If we don't put a complete stop to these radicals, no part of any of our "lifestyles" will matter.
There will be no arguments about Same-sex marriage because the radicals will behead both "partners" as perverse to their teachings.
There will be no private property rights, because they will take everything from you.
Your pet dogs will be killed, as they consider dogs "Unclean".
There will be no other religions because that is at the core of their thoughts and ambitions. You are Islam or you are DEAD.
Wall Street and investment growth will disappear.
"Fashion" will not matter.
Entertainment as we know it will disappear. Paris Hilton will join the "missing" and presumed beheaded group.
Media will have no freedom to print what they want. There won't even be a crossword puzzle in the NYT.
It is just that simple in their minds.

If we don't elect a President and a Congress that realizes all of the above and more, we can all kiss goodbye to what we have worked so hard to build in our personal lives.
No, you're right. And it's more than just his "security consulting" that's a problem here. His company does consulting work for all different types of clients -- and nobody seems to know what his expertise is. He's a deal-maker selling his contacts in politics, and nothing more (Forbes Magazine had a recent article describing a bunch of the idiotic consulting contracts he's secured in the last couple of years).
All your reasons for living are influenced by politics, whether you admit it or not.
Why don't you just get out of the way of people who are not in denial about the influence politics play in their lives?

Great -- then let Rudy lose in 2008 and 2012 before he presents himself as a serious candidate.
Rudy hasn't even been in elected office in five years -- and his eight-year tenure as mayor of New York City is the only experience he's ever had in an elected capacity. To call this a "track record" of any kind in the context of a presidential bid is really a stretch.
I suggest you pay more attention to your tagline.
