The man arrested on Saturday for sending more than a dozen envelopes containing "fake anthrax" to anti-war celebrities, journalists, and politicians may have ties to the conservative supersite Free Republic, RAW STORY has found.
Chad Castagana, a 39 year old Californian named as the FBI's prime suspect in the case, is due in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles today, where procecutors are expected to file criminal complaint against him for sending threatening letters through the U.S. mail. Castagana has an extensive online history, often writing about science fiction and conservative politics, and many bloggers are convinced that he is also a contributor at the conservative activist Free Republic website under the name Marc Costanzo.
Earlier today, users at the liberal websites Democratic Underground and Daily Kos brought to light the similarities between Castagana's Internet footprint and Costanzo's writings at Free Republic, and RAW STORY has found a series of eyebrow-raising connections between the two men.

I saw that too. I find their site difficult to look for stuff. I don't know how the DUmmies Funnies people do it. I only tend to look in latest news for examples of lefty madness.
I am lucky. Now I get along with all except brother in Asia (lefty). I have one SIS who is a Dem, but don't talk politics with her.
Special Agent Mary Hogan's search warrant affidavit is fascinating reading. Chad's one einstein of a crook! Seems he purchased the Ready Post Document Mailers and unusual stamps, together with a $15 money order that he sent to Katherine Harris's campaign, all at the same time. Because of the stamps, the postal clerk remembered him and could describe him. But his real downfall occurred when the money order was cashed. The postal inspectors traced it right back to him.
So, they staked out his house. They were watching when he emerged with a handful of envelopes and starting walking. They followed him 0.6 miles and were watching when he mailed the letters. Then they called in the hazmat guys, who carefully extracted his latest batch of threatening letters.
So, Chad's toast! It's going to have be a mental defense.
After the anthrax attacks of 2001, and the Unabomber attacks (who Clinton could not find...) hoaxes of any kind are even less funny (if they ever were). Throw the book at the culprit I say.

He was always posting on most of the threads regarding Ms. Kathrine Harris, and contrary to all the banned anti_K.H. spammer, he was politely and very very supporting of her. His donation to her gave himself away and apparently finally became his downfall!!

Agreed. The alternative, a closed forum requiring a password for access, would severely restrict new membership. Moderation is preferable to that, I think.
I noticed that too. Someone edited the source, as it no longer says this person was also at DUer.
I did bother to read it. It said they were 'convinced' but I didn't see anything I would have called 'proof' in the article.
