I did bother to read it. It said they were 'convinced' but I didn't see anything I would have called 'proof' in the article.

There is more convincing evidence that shows up in The DU thread - e.g. here is a letter to the editor from "Chad Castagana" which shows up in it's entirety from "Marc Costanzo" as a FR posting here.

That said, there are crazy people of all persuasions - just because this one has been known to post here doesn't mean the average freeper would condone his actions.
