Best Buy has announced they will be using "Happy Holidays" this coming Christmas shopping season, and they will not be using "Merry Christmas."
Dawn Bryant, a spokeswoman at Best Buy Co. Inc., says their advertising will not be using the term "Merry Christmas." "We are going to continue to use the term holiday because there are several holidays throughout that time period, and we certainly need to be respectful of all of them," Bryant said. While many other retailers have decided to return to the traditional "Merry Christmas", Best Buy will not be among them. Best Buy considers the use of "Merry Christmas" to be disrespectful.
thanks for the post and contact info.; I will call them and stay out of their stores.
Kwanzaa baby.
And yet if you look at there web page it say "Theres still time! Get your gift by Dec 24th!"
There was an incident in St. Louis about a month back where a couple purchased a digital Sony Video camera for around $1,600. When they got home and opened the box a jar of Classico Tomato Sauce was in the place of where the camera was supposed to be. They attempted to return it to Best Buy and were told by management that is was it "not their problem" as the box was sealed. I believe they refunded the money eventually.
Sorry Ace,
I've been at Best Buy 4 times in the past 2 weeks,
I got a "Merry Christmas" all for times.
Did not know this and I ordered on line quite a bit of gifts for the extended family. I love Best Buy. I hope that they learn for next year like Walmart and various other businesses to use Merry Christmas.
They must have been trying to sell you a magazine at the checkout called Merry Christmas because the stores where I live don't even know what the holiday is.
That's ok though because I think their "holiday" numbers are going to suck wind. Unless their TV sales saved them.
I purchased most of my gifts from other places this year. I usually do about 75% of my gift buying at Best Buy, but not this year. In fact I purchased a 1000.00 TV from another place and didn't bother with Best Buy. I got a "Merry Christmas" from the girl at the check stand.
When I hear "Happy Holidays" I have to wonder "what holiday"? Valentine's Day? Fourth of July? Halloween?
Christmas is Christmas - not a generic "holiday".
Maybe they are starting to learn their lesson......still, will keep their gift card I have in the drawer and spend it later when they choose not to ban Christ from Christmas, ie bite the hand that feeds them.
Well Best Buy...Good Bye
You won't get it on their www.bestbuy.com web page, and you won't get it on their gift cards. They've got a couple of Hanukkah gift cards, a spanish (hot in Spain and Mexico) snow man, and a "pixel tree," but no "Merry Christmas" (or any flavor of Christmas) gift card.
Iwas in Best Buy tonight, asked a couple of shelf stockers and employees where I could find things and each time I said, "Thanks. Merry Christmas." I didn't get so much as a grunt in acknowledgment. Same with Barnes and Noble.
