Africa, home of the "Sun People", was once the lost continent of Atlantis where the Mother Wheel was built.

For Mbeki to be taking credit for the achievements of Timbuktu, is like American Indians claiming that they were responsible for Harvard. Another laughable distortion of history. If anything Islam can crow about another accomplishment--except that they also have to face the fact that Moroccan hordes were also responsible for the demise.

Any politically correct idea, no matter how poorly founded, will be seized upon by the PC media and broadcast as if it were true.
Any politically incorrect idea, no matter how well proven, will be suppressed by the PC media.

I think this is cool, I would love to see some decent scholarship translate these.
It would most likely add to the history of Islamic conquest and slave trade, and also expose the French to other than European versions of history.

It is always shameful to disparage the truth because it gets in the way of prejudice. This library exists. Fine. I would love to see what it has in it; it will provide valuable historical insight. However, I don't want to see the truth disparaged because it gets in the way of racial/national mythology.
There was a thriving civilization in Western Africa once. It fell. Let's find out why--the real reasons, and not the one-word answers people throw out as an excuse for critical thinking.

Some academics say the texts will force the West to accept Africa has an intellectual history as old as its own.
More accurately: Some academics say the texts will force the West to accept that Arabic/Muslim Africa has an intellectual history about 1/8 the length of its own.
