Intelligence agencies have been warned that al Qaeda may be planning to attack air and rail travel in Europe in actions that may occur during the busy holiday travel season, CBS News has learned exclusively.In separate interviews with Arab and other intelligence sources, CBS News has been told that the warnings come from interrogations of al Qaeda suspects who recently left Afghanistan and Pakistan.
"One suspect said plans for repeating the Heathrow attempt (a reference to the failed 'liquid bomb' plot interrupted in August) were all prepared. It is now a matter of taking action," said one Arab official who asked not to be named because he is not authorized to speak to the media. "Al Qaeda's strategy appears to be raising the pressure in Europe."
In a move that has been puzzling intelligence agencies, al Qaeda has been withdrawing well-trained Arab fighters from the mountains and battlefields of Afghanistan.

Nancy Pelosi insists on a new tone while the Dims use European courts as proxies to threaten Americans who recognized the true threat abroad, but not at home. Rat retribution will be bloody and ruthless. All the while the enemy will laugh and say "Nice work! We kill you Last..."

Look, this is the perfect time for Al Queda to attack.
1. They attack, kill thousands
2. The Democrats accuse the Whitehouse of not implementing the 9/11 commissions recommendations
3. The impeachment begins
4. The media jumps all over it.
Thing is, they will have to remove Cheney first.
IMHO, the crux of the American intuition is that the American status quo, when no active measures occur, is a satiated lifestyle with only future opportunities for more entertainment. This is a different culture than 1940, when no active measures in one's life meant starvation and exposure to the elements were likely outcomes.
Our culture has become so secure, assuming the government as past recognized will continue to insure our security, that any actions taken against that government is first viewed as a response to an apparant offense.
Today's American culture has been so shapen by 60's-70's liberalism, and 80's Yuppyism, and 90's Clintonesque socialism that even if multiply attacked, rather than uniting together from the grass roots to fight a common enemy, half of the country will tend to fall back onto inactivity for their perception of security, and half of the remainder will view the US as the root of the hostility. (Please pardon the run-on sentance.)
Those who defend the US and attack its enemies, will discover more and more enemies of the Constitution are literally now within the governmental processes themselves. Their love for country will begin to erode as the evils of socialism are further advanced behind their backs as they defend the nation.
One possible reaction will be to target all those who have become powerful, namely the socialists, and destroy all things they seek to acquire and control. IMHO, such would be the mindset of an American version of the French Revolution, except the monarchy would be perceived as communist socialism and the masses as those who perceived they had been victimized by socialism.
The main threat from Islamic terrorism is as a catalyst to destroy anything and all things associated with socialism by any and all freedom loving western society. Terrorism is a catalyst for chaos and might be perceived for play incrementing a new world order.
Here's hoping it's just another empty threat, or if it's real, that the agencies that have been so successful to date in thwarting them continue to do so.
The borders have not swung open since GWB took office. They've been open for a long time. Atta had been here for 8 years before 9-11. There's no way to prove who came in and went where.
