Republicans Were 5,038 Votes Short of a 51-49 Senate Majority

Posted on 11/10/2006 9:04:52 AM PST by screw boll

I know the Republicans lost; it is time for sole searching, etc. etc. The fact is, however, if 3,615 votes in Virginia and 1,423 votes in Montana had gone the other way, the Dems would have no Majority. My point? The Dems will not be the “Permanent Majority” for too long.

Here is the math: Web in Virginia won with a 7,231-vote margin – Half of it is 3,615. In Montana, Jon Tester won with a 2,847 margin – half of it is 1,423.

3,615 + 1,423 = 5,038.

True enough. And if 537 votes had changed in Florida six years ago, there would have been no GW Bush administration.

It is called the Democrat Vote Fraud Machine. The Dems will always win close elections because they can find votes at the end of an election night. 2000 and 2004 were not as close as they appeared because Dems tried everything to try to make up the votes.

They basically kicked out all the centrists, but they finally realized they would never win another election unless they would allow some pro-life, pro-gun, religious candidates to run.

Grab the popcorn brother. This is going to be fun to watch.

What are you guys talking about. It was a BLUE TIDE and America has given liberals a mandate. I heard that myself from Chuck Schumer and Eyeball Pelosi!!! Oh yea, the NYT and the Boston Globe said it too.

A lot can change in two years - but I'm hoping the GOP can get back some of these seats we lost in '08.

The bad news is that some of the seats we lost in the Northeast may never come back our way again. They may have permanently shifted away from us - just like a number of seats in the South have shifted our way.

4CJ, truly, truly, the conspiracy might just be a fact, instead of a conspiracy.

Wonder if the Lord really spoke to Ff-150, or he was full of caca???

While this is all true, you are neglecting to mention the wild advantages of incumbency. These Dems who skirted in with razor-thin margins immediately become 15-point favorites the day they take office.

Add to that the fact that Dems now control the majority of state governments, which are in charge of drawing up congressional districts.

No one should think for a minute that it's not going to take very hard work to win back the majority.

Rove, you magnificent bastard(?).

Our governor, a democrat, stumped for Tester and a lot of people like our governor. That had to help Tester a lot.

The guy that ran against Conrad Burns in the primaries is one of our local distrist representatives and he is GREAT..outspoken, definitely has a spine but he is not well known enough in the rest of the state to have won the primaries. He would have been great againts Tester, I think.

I never heard of Tester before this election except in the primaries. but, I sure got my fill of him by the time elections were over! :(

Great, 5000 people out of 300 million now is the deciding factor whether the US will allow 100 million new immigrants, because the Democratic legislators and president claim they have a mandate.

We can suppose this is really democratic process at work here, when 0.002 % of the population has the power to increase the population by 33% !

Only in America, or should we say Mexerica now!

I think the better notion to run with is how important a single individual's vote can be. My sis in law is from virginia, and she indicated that statewide, on average, it came down to 3 votes per precinct.

That came out sounding a little strange. I think Bob Keenan would have been great against Tester, even though he wasn't a high profile figure around the state.
I believe after a strong campaign he would have been very well known and respected by the time the November elections came. He is a very strong conservative and not afraid to speak out. I still have high hopes for him in the coming years.

The atmosphere may look much different in 2008. The Democrats have been trying to take away the tools we need to fight terrorism....what if we get hit during their reign of terror? Will the economy tank when they don't renew the tax cuts? Unemployment rate is 4.4%...what will it be in 2008?  These races were won with very thin margins and the Democrats better hope all goes well in the next two years.
