Two days after losing a bid for a second term, Sen. Lincoln Chafee said he was unsure whether he would remain a Republican.

Chafee lost to Democrat Sheldon Whitehouse in a race seen as a referendum on President Bush and the GOP. On Thursday, he was asked whether he would stick with the Republican Party or become an independent or Democrat.

"I haven't made any decisions. I just haven't even thought about where my place is," Chafee said at a news conference. When pressed on whether his comments indicated he might leave the GOP, he replied: "That's fair."

Chafee, 53, is a lifelong Republican who has represented Rhode Island for seven years. His father held the same seat for 23 years before that.

Gee, why I am not surprised? I bet this SOB would have done the same thing if he had been re-elected but would have served in the minority unless he jumped ship. Linc Chafee is a lifelong leftist cokehead douchebag who only has an "R" next to his name out of family tradition.

The freepers who learned absolutely nothing from the Jeffords decable tried to get this commie re-elected with GOP money. If we had done so, we'd probably be seeing Senator Linc Chafee (D) chairing the Public Works committee in January.

That's actually good news!! It's certainly no loss for the party. He's nothing but a big RINO anyway. We have to go back to our conservative values, and getting rid of the RINOS is the best thing that could have happened to the GOP!!

So republicans allowing him to have a place at the table, and giving him millions of dollars to get him elected, and allowing him to dictate the next UN representative, he still can't figure out if he belongs in the GOP or not?

Actuall, what difference does it make, since he LOST HIS ELECTION? What does anybody care if he's an unemployed republican or an unemployed democrat?

Actually, since he's unemployed, he probably SHOULD switch to the democrat party.

>> Quick thought: Can the R leadership kick him off all his committee assignments now so that Bolton can be confirmed? <<

Not a bad idea, the lame duck Senate session officially has 55 "Republicans" until January so this liberal twit is expendiable. Let Chafee join the RATs and he won't have any power to past socialist crap in Republican committee meetings.

Linc...I don't care. You were barely with us when you were in, anyway. I wouldn't have wanted to have our Senate majority come down to whether you were going to deign to join us. Now...you can join the Democrats, the Wobblies and the Church of Satan if you like. I don't care.

They seem to think that because that part of the U.S. was settled first that they are better or somehow more American than the rest of the country. In reality, the people still in New England 225 years later are there because their ancestors were either too lazy or not brave enough to venture out into the wilderness and settle the rest of the continent because it might be "harsh."

"What is up with all these wacky New Englanders (Chafee, Kerry, etc.)? "

Now add socialist Bernie Sanders (D) Vt. to that list.
The Pilgrims are turning in their graves.

Linc's on the BBC talking about arrogance! What a maroon for all the WH support he undeservedly was given.

Unlike the folks who settled Virginia. Plus, if any New Englanders actually think that, they are incorrect since we beat them by well over a decade...and the Spanish were in Florida long before the notion of a Virginia colony was even conceived.

Chafee is in the GOP? (sarcasm)

Since he lost his bid for re-election, what good is it going to do him to switch parties?

"A political party cannot be all things to all people. It must represent certain fundamental beliefs which must not be compromised to political expediency, or simply to swell its numbers.

I do not believe I have proposed anything that is contrary to what has been considered Republican principle. It is at the same time the very basis of conservatism. It is time to reassert that principle and raise it to full view. And if there are those who cannot subscribe to these principles, then let them go their way."

-- Ronald Reagan, Conservative Political Action Conference, Washington, D.C., 1 March 1975

The world will little note nor long remember what you said in the Senate, Lincoln, but it sure as hell willl remember what you did there.
