CHEYENNE, Wyoming (AP) -- Sen. Craig Thomas, hospitalized since Monday with pneumonia, has been diagnosed with a form of leukemia, his spokesman said Thursday.
The Wyoming Republican, who was easily elected to a third term while in the hospital, issued a statement saying he will undergo treatment and plans to return to Congress in January.

Hope he does well with treatment...especially since there's a Democratic governor who would appoint his replacement if he has to resign.

Freudenthal will probably appoint Gary Trauner, who would probably hold the seat. Grrr....

Another case of leukemia?
That is one disease I am not all familiar with as far as symptoms, etc.

Well, let's hope he does well and returns like he says he plans to. (Heck, we hope that ANYWAY, regardless of who replaces who.)

Prayers for his quick and complete recovery. Some forms of leukemia have become very treatable.

Isn't this what Sen. Specter was diagnosed with right after the 2004 election? He appears to be doing much better now.

Oh yeah...but, they already have the majority (although how they can claim that...when there are 2 independents, 48 dems, 49 GOP, is beyond me).
Yeah, this is scary considering this is what Ed Bradley diedd from ...and he had been in remission until a few DAYS ago...and died within days of finding out it was back.

That is one disease I am not all familiar with as far as symptoms
Having lost a family member and also a friend to Leukemia, the one big symptom for both cases was an extremely low platelet count which results in hemophiliac like conditions, bleeding of the gums, excessive bruising etc.
There are other symptoms such as fatigue, etc but that was the biggie.

It's a potentially life-threatening cancer, obviously, but treatment has advanced considerably so that there are many survivors. My BIL was diagnosed September 2005 and is now successfully in remission. It was a rough ride, though, for the first month or so.
It's not good that he's going into treatment with pneumonia. Prayers for his full recovery and that he's able to be back in his Senate seat by January.
