Hope he does well with treatment...especially since there's a Democratic governor who would appoint his replacement if he has to resign.

Freudenthal will probably appoint Gary Trauner, who would probably hold the seat. Grrr....

Prayers for his quick and complete recovery. Some forms of leukemia have become very treatable.

Let the democrat death dance begin!

Unlike them, I'll send prayers for his recovery.

Isn't this what Sen. Specter was diagnosed with right after the 2004 election? He appears to be doing much better now.

I'll take this opportunity to encourage everybody to visit www.marrow.org and consider becoming a bone marrow donor. It's easy and you can save a life.

My younger brother died at age 37 from the desease. Diagnosed 9 years earlier, he lived a very normal life.

So normal he did not work hard to get a marrow transplant. No suitable donors were found.

Then it hit, and after nine weeks in the hospital he died. I will never forget those times. Chemo was tried once, with no lasting improvement.

Maybe since then, they have better treatments.

I pray he is ok. His health is much more important than a seat. I would rather his health than lose another seat. I might get blasted, but I accept them and actually will be proud to be blasted for this.

Praying for Craig Thomas, that he will respond positively to treatment. May God be with him during his illness.

Here is some fairly encouraging info from the National Cancer Institute.

Adult Acute Myeloid Leukemia

"Approximately 60% to 70% of adults with AML can be expected to attain complete remission status following appropriate induction therapy. More than 15% of adults with AML (about 25% of those who attain complete remission) can be expected to survive 3 or more years and may be cured. Remission rates in adult AML are inversely related to age, with an expected remission rate of >65% for those younger than 60 years. Data suggest that once attained, duration of remission may be shorter in older patients. Increased morbidity and mortality during induction appear to be directly related to age."
