White lies?
Since when is it OK for a president to lie to reporters?
Wasnt it just last week that the president told reporters that both Donald Rumsfeld and Dick Cheney were staying on their jobs for the next two years?
It was an important question. The president didnt duck. He didnt give one of those mealy mouthed, well see answers. He said yes, theyre both staying. And even as he said it, they were getting ready to get rid of Rumsfeld.
He must have known that. He hadnt talked to Gates yet, but Gates was being vetted for the Defense job at the time. Surely, the president knew that.
Excuse me, but it doesnt add up to an honest answer.
Am I the only one whos wondering why it is that the president is allowed to intentionally mislead people, and no one says boo.
I know Im not supposed to say this (my conservative friends get so bent out of shape when liberals accuse the president of lying but if the shoe fits
.) but is it because were so used to it?

I keep hearing about the Dems winning because Americans were tired of the Republican corruption. What about the Harry Reid scandal that was barely reported? For every Mark Foley, there are 10 just like him in the Dem party who are doing far worse than sending emails.
Cheney?
The Vice President is ELECTED.
The President has no power to remove the Vice President even if he WANTS to.
Now, Cheney might be a good sport and go, if asked, but he has the same constitutional right to his office as Bush has to his.
The Cabinet serves at the pleasure of the President.
The Vice President is elected by the people and does not serve at the pleasure of the President. If the Veep and the Prez hate each other, the Veep and openly undermine the Prez, and the best the Prez can do is exclude him.
To put it another way, all of the Veep's power is derived from the President, but the Vice President is NOT the President's subordinate, and the President CANNOT order the Vice President to do anything, because because the Vice President cannot be removed from office other than by Congressional impeachment.
We should get that fact straight.
If Cheney decides Cheney wants to day, he stays. The only people who can make him go is a majority of the House and 2/3rds of the Senate.
I thought lying to the enemy was considered normal in a time of war? Why would be want our enemies to know what we are doing? Sorry Susan, but you are on the wrong side of the war for us to be truthful with you. Your party didn't show us that courtesy when it governed in the 90's so take your mock outrage and put some ice on it.
Don't forget, this is the same drunkard that was on with Brit and panel election night 2004 LYING her drunk, ugly a$$ off that she had inside information that ketch-up boy had indeed won the Presidency!

Aside from all the liberal barf in this article and the liberal corruption that it doesn't mention - I am still angry about the way Rumsfeld was treated and the fact that Bush assured us before the election that Rumsfeld was staying, even though he was planning to let Rumsfeld go. It reminds me of H.W. Bush's "read my lips" pledge not to raise taxes.
Its not like he lied about oral sex
"Since when is it OK for a president to lie to reporters?"
He didn't lie, he said the decision wasn't 100% assured but when is it OK for reporters to lie about anyone? They lied about Rove getting indicted and even had Democrats cheering, they lied about the age of Foley's "victim's". They lie all the time about the war.
You are making the same argument the left makes when they say Bush lied about WMDs. She may have very well had some bad info. That's not a lie. But Bush can't claim to have had bad info in saying Rummy was staying. Bush used to be known for valuing loyalty, but that's apperently now a one way street. It seems when Bush says you are doing a great job it's time to start sending out your resume.
Hey Susan, you socialist b!tch--What about your hero klintoon?? Didn't he ever mislead anyone, huh?????
Utter rubbish. Rumsfeld is the sacrificial lamb for political reasons.
Clinton set the precedent Susan. It depends what the meaning of "were staying" meant.
I thought these a$$holes were going to take a couple of days off from their bullsh*t. I see I was wrong.
Now there ya went and belittled b!tchs by attaching this animal to the b!tch grouping!
BTW Susan, which president was called 'an exceptionally good liar?'
Maybe, since the facelift was half way successful, you ought to shoot for a brain lift?
The letter I sent to her.
Dear Susan Estrich,
"Since when is it OK for a president to lie to reporters?" Because Donald Rumsfeld resigned means the President lied? How did you come to this conclusion? Did it ever occur to you that he gave the President no option but to except his resignation? In my opinion unlike yours, is that he probably resigned as to deflect the lefts hatred of himself from effecting the Office of the President. The Democrats may have one both Houses but I see it as the Military, Afghani's and Iraqi's are the who will lose in the long run. PS. don't be such a hater.

With all due respect, do you seriously believe that Rummy really resigned on his own? What happens is that the president has someone inform him that he will accept his resignation, and the person resigns rather than being fired. That's how the game is played. This was just a bit more transparent than normal.
To me, this sounds childish. Anyone with top secret security clearance may lie to reporters and anyone else. To say anything else is just naive.
Actually I'm criticizing intellectual dishonesty. Being wrong isn't lying, whether it's Bush or Estrich.
As for Bush making a public statement that Rummy was staying before the election, then dumping him the day after and replacing him with someone who was against going into Iraq from the beginning, I just don't get it. But it sure looks like dishonesty and weakness.
