Norfolk, Va. (Nov. 6, 20006) – Nearly 300 Sailors aboard the guided-missile destroyer USS Ross (DDG 71) return to homeport at Naval Station Norfolk. Ross returned after a six-month deployment in support of Operation Active Endeavour (OAE) in the Mediterranean Sea as part of Standing NATO Maritime Group Two (SNMG-2). While on deployment, Ross worked with more than 60 NATO and non-NATO ships and aircraft from Israel, Russia, England, Greece, Italy, Turkey and the United States. The deployment was designed to be flexible and provided presence and strike power to support joint and allied forces afloat and ashore.
