Polls: GOP Closing Gap (just 4% gap!)
Fox News ^

Posted on 11/06/2006 7:39:41 AM PST by HHKrepublican_2

Polls show that with less than 24 hours until voters decide which party will control Congress, Republicans are making major gains in key races and closing the gap nationally, meaning voter turnout could become the key factor.

Nationally, Republicans cut the Democrats' lead to just four percentage points, down from 11 last month, according to the Pew Research Center for the People and the Press. Two other national polls found similar results.

With many key races across the country now teetering on single-digit percentage leads, both parties are wheeling out the big guns — President Bush and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi — to sway undecided voters, and convince others that every vote counts.

This reminds me of when CNN freaks out over a big earthquake, and issues a "TSUNAMI alert" but hours seconds before it actually hits they say its only a 2-inch wave.

hmmm...

This happens almost every cycle. I'm convinced these polls are ratings driven. Ad dollars, pure and simple.

Hmmm. With the generics this tight, at the very least it doesn't look like a dem wave by any means.

The polls aren't what are closing, it's the oversampling of democrats in the polls that is closing in the final polls. They have to do that for final polls to claim some amount of credibility after months of oversampling democrats. Happens every election.

Nope, the MSM is now adjusting their polls closer to reality since the elections are tomorrow and we'll see the results of the only poll that matters. There never was a real Dem surge. They just oversampled Dems to pretend there was, and now they have to ease back to closer to actual numbers.

The GOP never leads in the generic poll question. We were 5 point s behind just days before the 94 election and we swept the 'Rats out. The generic ballot is meaningless.

I just got an email from my husband, who is working for Barbara Merrill, independent candidate for Governor of Maine. He says the latest poll has support collapsing for incumbent Dem Baldacci, and Merrill's support doubling in last 2 weeks. This is now a legit three-way race and the Democrats are on the run, even in the liberal state of Maine.

I'm just a stupid guy like one of our troops and I couldn't afford to go to a fancy Ivy League school like John Kerry but I don't believe that polls serve any purpose except propoganda and to mislead the people who pay for them.

Plus these polls usually have a 4 or 5% margin of error.

You'd never know it by watching the exited glee of the media today. You'd think it is an absolute assured democrat blowout. I think there is going to be alot of fraud going on. Win or lose, after this election is over, we need to hold the media accountable for all their spin and outright bias in this election cycle. Also, win or lose, we need to hold the Republicans in the House and Senate, especially the Senate, accountable for throwing away the once in a lifetime oppertunity we gave them 6 years ago.
