Regarding Tim's body language - he practically came across the table at Liddy Dole, because he could not stop her from making extremely valuable points. His struggle for control (of himself and of his show) was comical!

Well, not to belabor the point but that is not my point, at least not the concern I have regarding Rumsfeld's lighter, faster vision. The operations against Iraq were masterful. I am proud, truly so.
We have what it takes to defeat small to medium armies outright, and large non-technical armies in fairly short order, say 60-90 days. What about large, technological powers? Can we win against China? I don't think we can IF Rumsfeld totally transforms our military. He needs to save some of the old power to keep all our options open.
Case in point. The Air Force is often chided for not making ground air support its highest priority, and keeping air superiority its main focus. However, what those opponents fail to understand is that without air superiority, ground air support will happen, unfortunately by the enemy, not by us! Now in Afghanistan and Iraq, we didn't need to fight for air supremecy; we already had it. We could fly virtually anywhere we wanted and hit any target we needed to. In Afghanistan, fighters became roving artillery platforms at the beck and call of USAF ground combat teams on horseback riding with vast Uzbek and Afghani Northern Alliance armies.
This will not be how it goes if/when we face China. We'll have to sweep them from the skies, first. In recent excercises with our f-15's against India's Air Force, they bloodied our noses more than we care to admit. A future ground war may go badly, initially, while we fight in the air. We could see our ground troops without air support for the first time since WWII.
All I'm saying is don't throw out the baby with the bathwater. Rumsfeld isn't perfect. Since he serves at the pleasure of the President, all detractors can go pound sand in my opinion. But it isn't as if no one had a good idea until Rumsfeld showed up.

IF the dems win the house and senate, the headlines in all the newspapers and the leading stories on all the TV channels will be about the American people repudiating the wascally wepublicans.
However, IF we keep either both houses, or the house, nary a peep will be heard regarding the American people's repudiation of the dems non-message...the headlines and news stories will be all about voter fraud, disenfranchiement and how the wascally wepublicans stole the election AGAIN!!!

That's great news. I really wonder about some of these polls. We know they've been using bad questions and oversampling Dims all along. They're in CYA mode now and I suspect that in the next day or by early Tues a.m. they'll be more reflective of what they should have been all along (given the fact that some people lie on them - like some folks mentioned during Brian Wilson's program. One guy said he kept a penny by the phone and flipped it - heads Republican, tails Dims and that's how he answered - LOL!).
This is just coming out (at least I don't recall hearing it before). The good folks in PA need to hear this:

It took the new Chief of Naval Operations, Admiral Mike Mullen, less than 24 hours to dump one of the most disliked officers among the Navy's top brass. Vice-Admiral Joe Sestak, an arrogant and obnoxious "bully-boy," who delighted in being rude and unreasonable and getting away with it, found he was expendable the minute his mentor went out the door.
Rumsfeld "yes-man" and weaselly politician Vern Clark will not be missed by many Navy personnel. In fact, hopeful messages are flooding the office of MilitaryCorruption.com that "maybe, somehow," the Navy has finally gotten a CNO who will "put sailors first" and correct the many mistakes of his predecessor.
It was Clark, a leftover from the Clinton Administration, who promoted Sestak to his third-star and made him deputy chief of naval operations for Warfare Requirements and Programs. Those who dared to complain about Sestak's abusive "management style" were ignored or punished.
By sacking a previously untouchable top-ranking admiral, Mullen has fired a shot across the bow to others like Sestak that their days are numbered too.
All this can only improve morale. We "salute" CNO Mullen for having the courage to do the right thing. It would have been much easier to leave an out-of-control martinet like Sestak in place and not rattle any cages.

I would not assume that just because she chooses not to discuss her reason for leaving that it was not her choice. No matter what reason she gave there would be someone that would complain that it was not the real reason or not a good enough reason to abandon ship.Saying she will not discuss it in effect basically drops the subject for the most part,except for small queries by Freepers such as today. She is obviously well bred, and was undoubtedly brought up to avoid casting aspersions. Maybe she will write a tell all book. The world is her Oyster, and IMHO her Character won the day,and she lives to fight another day in another venue with her good name intact.
