Pelosi's countdown: She ticks off a list of changes, including a new Iraq strategy

In an interview from her Capitol office, Pelosi characterized Tuesday's vote as a referendum on the war, shrugged off President Bush's efforts to make her liberalism a national issue, described the current GOP leadership as a "freak show," and expressed confidence about her party's prospects to pick up the 15 seats it needs for a majority.

"We're going to take back the country for the American people -- Democrats and Republicans alike -- because it has been held hostage by the radical right wing of the Republican Party," Pelosi said.

"This is a freak show, and it has to come to an end," Pelosi said. "This is about a Congress and White House whose purpose is to concentrate wealth into the top 1 percent of our country at the expense of the middle class."

If Democrats win, and Speaker Dennis Hastert is forced to hand the gavel to Pelosi, "I'll receive it, in my view, from the hands of special interests on behalf of America's future."

She's got the Michael Jackson shrinking nose syndrome. Not good.

I doubt there is much left on that face or body that is real.

What she meant ot say was "We're going to take back the country FROM the American people and impose our particular brand of economic reform on the country, which unfortunately means higher taxes, but hey, do you think tax cuts can keep dropping the deficit forever? Sure it's worked for a long time now, but you never know when all that will end. The good times can't last forever folks. And Iraq- hooo boy have we got change in mind. We'll change everythign. How you ask? What a good question, but you don't need to know- we've got a plan, just trust us- we're the ones you can trust. I'm putting Charles Rangel on the war advisory panel- he served, so he knows what to do. and blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah."

I'm from Ca, and most of us can't stand her. The vast majority of this state is solid red. She and her San Francisco values are the freak show!!!!!!
If the rest of Ca can't stand her then how much do you think she had in common with the folks in Montana or Wyoming???

Maybe Pelosi needs to read the 911 Commission Report and it's recommendations re terrorism. Pelosi and the Democrats either don't or won't care about terrorism, or they are lying. What is being done now in Iraq and Afghanistan is exactly what has been recommended by leaders on BOTH sides of the aisle. The Republicans need to broadcast this fact from the rooftops.

Pelosi needs to be shackled with her slithering sidekick Murtha, and strung up next to Sadam for a good three way...hanging.

If they win, Democrats will immediately reach out to Bush to find a bipartisan way to begin redeploying troops "outside of Iraq," Pelosi said. They will also apply pressure to disarm the militias, amend the Iraqi constitution and engage in diplomacy in the region.

Such unmitigated arrogance.

After cutting & running, they propose to amend another sovereign country's constitution. It's as if the votes of the Iraqi populace and the effort of their representatives was worth nothing -- because it didn't satisfy Nancy Pelosi!

Regardless of the Republican congressional corruption and disappointments, these people cannot be allowed back in power.

What ever happened to the specter of McCain-Feingold shutting down FR thirty days before the election? How was that resolved? Or was it never a true threat, just fear-mongering?

I'm not in the top 1%, but I've been concentrating wealth, and I'm smack dab in the middle class - thanks to the Bush administration I've had a window to accumulate some wealth - goof-ball, commie, lying, rich bastard-Pelosi.

OK you know that 1 percent hires the about 60 percent of the population so when you take their money away you will effectively take those jobs away.... Then you will charge those that do work even more to pay welfare to those that don't work... hmmmm That Democrat plan is so 1970's

The Democrats' strategy is to surrender and waste the lives of our soldiers who have already made the ultimate sacrifice for freedom.

The Democrats think losing in Iraq has no consequences, when it fact it would be a major setback for U.S. influence in the world, and a major victory for terrorists, Iran, North Korea, Syria, Chavez, Castro, and assorted other scum. Terrorists attacks in the United States will resume if we lose in Iraq, hundreds of thousands of Americans will be killed by chemical, biological or nuclear devices, and our economy will sink into a depression worse than the 1930's.

The Democrats are therefore allies of the terrorists.
