Halping Private Carry

Typically its not wise for political parties to dwell on the gaffes of their opponents, as a gaffe by its very nature doesnt typically contain much in the way of substance in the more important battle of ideas that really make a difference between two political parties competing for votes in our democracy.
But the recent "botched joke" of Senator John Kerry may deserve an even deeper inspection, especially in light of the fact that this was the opposition partys top choice to replace the President two short years ago.
Thats right! This was the number one guy that the Democrats all across the country chose to become the new Commander of Chief, in charge of the very people who, whether they can bring himself to admit it or not, are the punch line of the very joke he botched. He even received 48% of the popular vote in his bid to unseat President Bush, only a few ACORN voter registration scams away from paydirt.
The first important point that needs to be made is about whether the joke was actually botched. There are many people like myself who are quite skeptical to believe that the version of the joke that was said to be intended by John Kerrys aides, that named President Bush as the explicit punchline, is nothing more than post mortem political damage control alibi. But regardless, even if those intended words came out of the Senators mouth, there wouldve still been a moment prior to the punchline where the audience wouldve had to assume he was talking about the military---one moment too long for a candidate already perceived to have contempt for our military (despite whatever time he may have spent being a part of it).
Could you imagine for a moment if Senator Trent Lott had made a joke that in any way could be thought of to be disparaging to African-Americans? His already marred career would be over.
Theres a second important point that needs to be made too. Even if Senator Kerry sincerely held the opinion that our militarys composition draws too much from our nations failing education system, how could there be any justification of a statement like that by any politician? Consider for a moment if instead of "stuck in Iraq", Mr. Kerry said, "stuck in McDonalds" or "stuck in janitorial careers" or "stuck collecting garbage". While such professions are sometimes stereotyped to be composed of people who didnt do well in school, they are very honest and hard-working contributors to our nation, not to be looked down upon by our nations leaders. Thus no politician would ever be allowed to make such a joke---botched or not---without having considered to commit political suicide.
Yet John Kerry made his joke---as it was originally stated---about our military. It was immediately followed, not by an important clarification that he misspoke, but rather a defiant "I apologize to no one". Eventually he said he was sorry---but sorry that people misunderstood him. He to this very moment refuses to personally admit that he regrets the words that came out of his mouth. He cant bring himself to admit HIS mistake, but somehow manages to blame the very people he gaffed claiming they are so dumb as to misunderstand what he meant! Perhaps this is a new level of audacity, even for him.
There is one final point that needs to be shouted from the top of the highest mountain, "The Swift Boat Veterans for Truth were right!"
John Kerry has too long gotten away with simultaneously disparaging the military to the joy of the Cindy Sheehan crowds (formerly known as the Jane Fonda crowds), while maintaining a rather thin façade of claim to be a leader from rank and file military. It has never been true, and it is the raison detre of the Swift Boat political group. The Swift Boat group, composed of many actual military men who served with John Kerry, had spent their energy getting out the message that John Kerry had a long record of contempt towards the military. Though their media attack on John Kerry has often been characterized as being unfair by many major media figures, the underlying truth to their message has never been more apparent.
Itll be interesting to see what political futures lie ahead for John Kerry. If he still decided to run for the Presidency again, my own guess is that hell never poll beyond single digits, even in his own partys primary. Unfortunately, I cannot make any such prediction for any future campaigns for the Senate seat that he now holds, given his states horrendous reputation for awarding the other Senate seat against all common sense, logic, or decency to Ted Kennedy. Long live our democracy!
I can't help but think that the real damage was done not so much by Kerry's outrageous insult, but by the two-day period in which he tried to claim that what he'd intended to say was more important than what he did say. This was compounded by the number of liberal mouths who came forward earnestly bleating that Kerry was right, that the military really is the repository of the mentally deficient. It doesn't help when your people are defending a position you want to convince everyone else that you didn't take.
True. And it's true, too, that the dems will continue to hobble defense, intelligence, the economy, and the culture of red America. Are we nearer to civil war?
I never thought my contribution to the swiftboat vets would pay dividends but it has based on kerry still stinging from their success in denying him access to the whitehouse. I'm sure his recent comments were partially fueled by the swiftees actions. God bless each and every one of them. **==
Yeah. Any future nomination was pretty dim anyway, but this cleans his clock.
Watch out for a reapperance of Al Bore. Many, many in the Defeatocratic Party think Hillary will never win; with Kerry a goner that leaves Bore or the trial lawyer Edwards.
If we are nearer to civil war, it should be over fast as the dims, for the most part, are not particularly well armed (look at Massghanistan's restrictive gun laws) nor particularly well trained (as indicated by JOhn KErry's comments that the smart/beautiful people don't go into the military. Okay, I will admit to not being as smart as the younger troops and to being ugly as an elephant's butt.)
Yup. It's over for the traitor. I hope he resigns.
Well, what about plugs?
Get a clue fella, implying the troops are stupid losers is exactly the message of the Democrats. Calling it a botched joke two days later is a weasel's way of "setting the record straight"... with another bald face lie.
Kerry was associated with the SDS. They are, again, starting up on college campii. Who is financing them this time? Al Queda, Saudi's or the Dems?
kerry's too much of an ego freak to keep his idiotic mouth shut, stay alert for more gifts in the next couple days.
No, his dream isn't over because the idiot doesn't get it. But his chances of becoming president are nil. Just like gun owners didn't buy off on his ridiculous bird hunt photo op, people know this wasn't a joke gone awry. After all, who was the audience that day? College students, not presidential contenders. The message was perfectly clear. John F'n Kerry was telling students to stay in school and study hard, otherwise they'd be stuck in Iraq. It had nothing to do with President Bush until the spinmeisters went into action.
Nice editorial, many great points made by the author.
Amidst all of the laughing I have done at the various posts here on FR and articles elsewhere on Carry's major mess-up, the sobering thought hits me right between the eyes - This Man Almost Became President!
MAJOR UPDATE: JOHN KERRY'S OWN WEBSITE CLAIMS HIS "JOKE" WAS "RIGHT EITHER WAY" !!!

Unbelievable.
Jon Carry is an idiot.
And a traitor.
What a jerk. The mere fact that the military pays for someone's education, doesn't mean that person is lazy or stupid.
I wouldn't be surprised if one of her devotees wrote Kerry's "joke."
What the US Army recruiting poster under "President" Kerry would look like:
Our brave warriors n Irak respond to Jon Carry"
Kerry is no different re his hatred of a strong America and our warriors than 99.9% of the rats in congress. Every rat running for election should have to face a copy of this banner everytime they show their treasonous faces. Pelosi, Murtha, Clintoon, Boxer, Kennedy, Durbin, Levin, Rangle, Reid and other rats in congress hate our military and a strong America. Just look at their voting records the past two years as President Bush pointed out this week.
Kerry is shown leading his fellow hate America and our military Rats to their final destination in American Politics:
(John Kerry picked the wrong people to insult.)
I can't help but feel the real shame is on us, the American voters. We continue to let our troops, our heritage and our nation down by sending the dreggs of our society to represent us at the highest levels and portray our image and soul around the globe.
My GOD- how low have we slipped when we elect murderers, admitted war criminals and traitors to the highest body in our government?
Kerry in one of his many acts of treason after his very short Nam tour.
Vote against all traitors this election day. Support our troops and their CIC, President Bush.
With Democrats ,nothing is a sure thing. On a slight segway,Senate candidate Harold Ford jr. was asked if Kerry's apology was sufficiant. His ansswer was that as a Christian he is to forgive.Mr. Ford can't be THAT niave (please check spelling)or THAT trusting, can he? If he is ,we ARE in trouble!!!!!!!!
