A West Point Cadet sends this along with the photo below:
I'm a cadet at West Point, and tonight at our game against the Air Force Academy, a big sign emerged, and it was shown to the Corps of Cadets, who cheered wildly, and then shown to the Air Force cadets, who also cheered.

Gretchen, I was so moved by that presentation and entranced by "Homeward Bound" that I bought the choral octavo and plan to have my church choir sing it. (The arrangement is almost identical as what the Brigham Young College Choir sings).
(btw, that link didn't work for me, but I'm assuming it's the same thing that I've seen).

The way the Brigham Young singers did it, it is reminiscent of somewhat of an Irish air. It reminded me so much of the arrangement you sent to me that I knew you'd love it. Too bad the link didn't work. The video is stills of our troops in Iraq and probably Afghanistan -- some of my favorite pictures were of two soldiers next to a handmade sign that said, "Welcome to Bush International Airport," and one of a returning GI lying spread eagle on the pavement of an airport, kissing the ground. Does that sound familiar?

Massachusetts, what did the other 49 states do to you to make you inflict Kennedy and Kerry on us? Good question.

Yes, it's the same one. I have it filed away somewhere.
(Actually I heard that arrangement before I wrote mine. Wonder if it inspired me and I didn't even realize it?? :)

When you're a musician, and you hear a beautiful sound, I don't think it ever really leaves your head.

It's an Appalachian sound........called "Sacred Harp".......and it is, IMO, one of the most beautiful sounds ever.
It was quite intentional for me to use that sound, especially at the beginning of my arrangement, but I hadn't thought about this particular song.
If you've seen the movie "Geronimo" you hear the same sound at the very end of the movie.
It just doesn't get better....

I sent it to my daughter on Fri, she played it at work for everyone. She said that they were completely silent while watching, like church she said, lol.
And all day they were watching it over and over, (these are young people working at a ad agency, in their 20's), and all were surprised at how proud they felt.
Sad that these young people aren't exposed to goings on of their peers fighting in this war.
A little pro US propaganda could go a long way, and how do you win without it?
To: devolve
You deserve some kudos!

Reading your post about your daughter and her coworkers really slamdunks it for me about how WRONG the Old Media are when they say over and over (without stats to prove it), "With the war becoming more unpopular all the time ... ."
I didn't buy it when they first started that chant and I don't buy it now.

Just think of the difference between WW II and now. How much did the pro-US propaganda keep America going when thousands upon thousands of young men were being killed.
Now we have the media and the left belittling our troops, deliberately trying to dishearten Americans, and openly aiding and abetting the enemy.......to the point that terrorists are out there rooting for a Dem victory on Tuesday.
WHAT COUNTRY IS THIS ANYWAY???
