When you're a musician, and you hear a beautiful sound, I don't think it ever really leaves your head.

It's an Appalachian sound........called "Sacred Harp".......and it is, IMO, one of the most beautiful sounds ever.

It was quite intentional for me to use that sound, especially at the beginning of my arrangement, but I hadn't thought about this particular song.

If you've seen the movie "Geronimo" you hear the same sound at the very end of the movie.

It just doesn't get better....

Man, does that music bring back memories for me. I sang in a really fine college SATB choir. Went on tour to the German-speaking countries over Christmas time, where our concerts were attended by US Marines who were guarding the Embassy in Vienna. I never saw such grateful guys in my life. They were so glad to see some faces from home during that time of the year. We got to sing gorgeous choral works in some of the most beautiful cathedrals in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
