I'll make this short and simple.
Is anyone else as sick of all these pre-recorded political calls as I am?
How about if we demand of whoever gets elected, Democrats, Republicans, Conservatives, Liberals, all of them, that by the next election they end the exemption for political calls on the Do Not Call list.
I have repretedly called both the National Democrats and Republicans (National Congressional Campaign Committees) and asked them to remove my phone number from their calling lists. I have been promised that it would be done. To no avail. The calls continue.
Can anyone think of something better? How can we put a stop to these annoying calls?
The calls can be coming from third parties (like the 527's), so the DNC and the RNC have no control over them.
I've been getting a zillion of them. I don't love it but then, hey, it's the political system at work. In the bigger picture, it's a good thing.
I'm pretty sure that if you give each of them a a $100 donation the calls will stop.
I just screen my calls with the caller ID and answering machine.
I sent an email to my Rep telling her if I got another call, she'd lost my vote. They still call.
Here in Florida it's been a big subject in the news. Vern Buchanan is the beneficiary of the calls and he's called on the NRCC to stop making the calls.
They claim they can't honor his request to stop or it would be collusion between their PAC and his campaign.
Meanwhile the letters to the editor continue to read ' I will not vote for anyone who calls my home '
Nice work NRCC
No, that just makes them want more!
I know. Actually most of mine are from these "independent" organizations. At least make them let their phone numbers come up on caller ID. But i still think removing the exemption for political calls is the answer. Make them play by the same rules as the rest of us.
I don't have a home phone. We only use cells and we have received no calls. Whew.
I too hate them. Don't you suppose the ones they are calling are the ones that have donated and pay attention. I doubt they go down a phone book. Two solutions: #1 Let the phone ring and delete the message or #2 answer and hang up. One you have to get up the other you don't. Personally I enjoy the real person polls. I answer just opposite of how I intend to vote or I answer both ways and make it so confusing they wish they had not called me.
Not when you're antagonizing your own voters to the point they won't vote for you
I think it's great that these nationally important people are calling just to talk with me!
Unfortunately some problem always occurs with my cheap phone and they can't hear my replies!
I hope they call back when my phone is working...
Go back to using dial-up! Puter on, no calls!
Can you handle a shotgun?
On the bright side, it reminds me of how thankful I am for the "Do Not Call" list. I'm grateful for whoever passed that, Democrat or Republican.
The calls I get from Charlie Crist will stop by next Wednesday (I've gotten at least 6 from his campaign).
Count yourself lucky. The RNC has my cell phone number from working on the 2004 campaign. Thank goodness the PAC's and NRCC doesn't have it but they do call on our land line.
LOL! Ya think?
That's what I do at this time of year -- if I don't know the person, I don't answer and have turned off my answering machine! :)
