Kerry's remarks were such a self-inflicted wound, he immediately put in for a Purple Heart.

" . . . people voted for Perot and got Clinton, Monica and Osama bin Laden."

You hit the nail right on the head.

Here's a Dem vs Republican sample for all to think about.

On my wife's side of the family there are about 15 people who have had their hand out waiting for someone to fill it as long as I've known them. NOT ONE will take the time to vote or if asked even know when to vote. If they did know maybe 5 would make the effort and only if someone was willing to chip in for gas. Almost all of them are home during the day with some sort of disability, depression etc... anything to make it so they don't have to go to work and get screwed by the employer and all the taxes that damned employer takes from their check. Yes! They actually believe its the employer. (Point is they're home and they talk to pollsters)
In our house of republicans and independents, and the ones I know, we've either already voted or will be there on the 7th.
Most of us hang up on pollsters by the way.

This is very good and I think this is your best line -

Webb was so eager, he ran happily toward the mike and grabbed it in his arms, turned it upside down, and put it in his mouth.

WOW!!! Another great essay presentation. Worth repeating backwards - !!!WOW.

In a local race, Congressman Dennis Cardoza, Condit's (y'all remember him?) protege and replacement in the '02 election, got the nod from our local fish-wrap, which I couldn't let pass by the voters without some input, so I sent the following to The Bee. They haven't published it yet, but it is posted on their web site...

Kudos to The Bee for placing all their election stories and recommendations in one easy-to-find location at www.modbee.com.

One of those recommendations, for Dennis Cardoza, rightly commends Rep. Cardoza for his close attention to the valley's agriculture interests. This is exactly what would be expected of anyone representing the 18th Congressional District.

A visit to www.house.gov however, reveals Cardoza's voting record regarding our nation's national security and the war on terror. Mr. Cardoza appears to have joined the "cut and run" gang, voting on the side of the terrorists vs. protecting the homeland and supporting our troops and their mission.

Dennis Cardoza may well have saved the farm, but he sold out the country in the process.

Thanks, but no thanks. My vote goes to John Kanno.
