For the first time since before Watergate, the New York Times endorsed no Republicans for election to Congress this year.
It's a sign of a few things: The polarized country, the end of a meaningful moderate wing of the GOP, and the Times's own move left.
A look back at the Times archives through 1972 finds that the paper's powerful editorial page endorsed at least one Republican for the House or Senate every year. Some of these were well-known local moderates like Hamilton Fish and Bill Green. Others include a young Connecticut candidate named John Rowland in 1986.
The page, at least according to a 1982 editorial, made a considered decision to avoid nationalizing its picks.

And I love the Times' tortured reasoning, that there aren't any moderate Republicans left. Excuse me?? The GOP has prominent moderates such as Schwarzenegger, McCain and Guiliani. Who's the prominent moderate Democrat these days, certainly among the Democratic Congressional leadership? The one well known moderate they had, Joe Lieberman, they chased out of the party.

To imagine, the NYT has officially moved left, even when the national Republican party is left of where it's been in the past.
That said, I love not having the NYT on our side!
This is a deceptive claim.Their refusal to endorse a single Republican need only be due to one of the two final reasons given.
And given that the "moderate" wing of the Party is all-too-alive and well,that would leave only one plausible explanation.
The NYT's has taken off the gloves -- they don't care. They can afford to give the finger to half the population in the US. Must be a great business -- most companies have to care something about their customers...
Here's the thing, if they endorse zero Republicans, then we don't owe them the time of day. They are a political rag no more important than the National Review. At least National Review doesn't claim to be the paper of record. I think it's time for a boycott by conservatives.
That's because we did a pretty good job weeding out the RINOs this year. They didn't have any 'RATS in elephant suits to endorse.
