I bought that CD for my son last year. I Can See for Miles is by far the best of the bunch on that one. The CD cover is a nice take-off on the original.

PETE TOWNSHEND refused to let documentary maker MICHAEL MOORE use THE WHO's WON'T GET FOOLED AGAIN in his FAHRENHEIT 9/11 film because he didn't want the anthem to become an anti-PRESIDENT GEORGE W BUSH song. The rocker claims the tune has been misinterpreted many times and he didn't want to add to the confusion by letting Moore use the song against Bush. He tells Rolling Stone magazine, "When ROGER (DALTREY) sang it, suddenly it became almost an anthem of the counterculturalists. "You say to somebody, 'I'm not doing it,' and they hear you say, 'I'm doing it.' Like, 'I'm not going to tell you President Bush is a bad man.' And people go, 'Oh, OK, so President Bush is a bad man.' Let me tell you again, 'He f**king is not a f**king bad man, you f**king idiot!' "The debates I had back and forward through HARVEY WEINSTEIN (producer) with MICHAEL MOORE were beyond belief. He wanted to use my song Won't Get Fooled Again. "I said to Harvey, 'The guy wants to misuse the misuse of the song.' It's not political or partisan or parochial." The rock anthem is now the theme to TV hit CSI: MIAMI.
Being found "not guilty" by a jury equals getting cleared of the charges. Pleading guilty in return for a reduced sentence equals being guilty.
Pete didn't care much for "Greasers" either. Sometimes it's easy to forget how segmented "youth culture" was . . . and is.

For something really strange, but to me quite amazing, check out Petra Haden's one-woman a capella version of The Who Sell Out. I Can See For Miles is just incredible. She's touring the county now with her group, The Sell-Outs. Townshend, by the way, called the effort "exquisite", though Roger reportedly didn't like it.
Being found "not guilty" by a jury equals the prosecution not providing enough evidence for a jury to vote for a conviction. It is not the same as being cleared of all charges. It means the prosecution did not make its case beyond all reasonable doubt.
Being found innocent by a jury, or the prosecution dropping all charges beforehand because they know the case to be fallacious, is being cleared of all charges.

Show me some proof that the charges were dropped. I alrady showed some indicating that he was let off with a caution in return for pleading guilty.
Pete freely admits that he was googling kiddie porn. Whether you accept his explaination is up to you. The point is he's guilty and he admits as much.

I've been a semi pro Bassist for a little over 20 years and I was a teen when "Talk Dirty" came out. The first time I heard it on the radio, I pulled over the car in shock, lol. Yeah, John's bass lines were more of a kind of "lead Bass" as opposed to just pumping root notes with the drummer. I suppose playing along with Keith Moon had a little to do with it,lol. He always liked to mix in some distortion in his signal, not too many Bassists were doing that back then. And he ALWAYS made it look so easy too, lol.
The song "Uniforms" on "Chinese Eyes" I think expresses Pete's ultimate views on the whole Mod vs. Rocker thing.
A classic, no doubt. I always liked Odds & Sods. Both albums have Glow Girl, one of my favorites that brings back memories of my careless youth. Pure and Easy and Long Live Rock are also on Odds. And some wicked drumming by Keith Moon on Little Billy.

For their most underrated song I'd put that in a dead heat with "Odorono" and "Relax," from the same album.
Wow...$200. I saw The Who in Seattle in 1979 or 1980. Kenny Jones was drumming. Awesome show.
