Here we go: despite receiving an order for three more episodes on Friday, the Aaron Sorkin NBC drama Studio 60 on Sunset Strip is about to be put out of its misery.
Cast members are already confiding in friends that the end is near. Its likely NBC will pull the plug shortly I am told by insiders.
Last week, Studio 60 had 7.7 million viewers. Compare that with competing "CSI: Miami," with 17.5 million. That gap cannot be closed.
But Studio 60 has trouble internally at NBC, forget its intramural rivals. According to ratings stats, the Saturday Night Live behind the scenes soap opera loses almost half the viewers delivered to it a few minutes earlier by another new show, Heroes, which has become a surprise cult hit.

I'm cursed!
Thou shalt not bash Christians and expect high ratings in the heartland.
CBS had a short-lived series about a professional burglar called "Smith." I missed the first show, saw the second show twice...
Here is my assessment of the show. It's 100 times better then 30 Rock. How is that for a ringing endorsement ?
The previews of it looked great and I was looking forward to watching it. I didn't even make it through the first episode. It was horrible.
I believe "Smith" holds the record for the first new show of the season to be cancelled. I think that I must be the only person who watched the premiere and you and I are the only ones who watched the second.
My wife likes "Shark", and I admit I enjoy James Woods's over-the-top character. Though they could lose the daughter and I wouldn't mind.
Too bad. It is a good concept with a lot of possibilities. I've enjoyed it. The acting is crisp and the storylines are unique. The Long Tail strikes again.
Today, the best they can come up with is Survivor.
The networks lost me as a viewer 20 years ago.I can't,for the life of me,see how they could ever win me back.
I noticed the reviewer endorsed Brothers and Sisters. As of last week I'm done watching that show, don't need to watch any gay angst. I thought that was over after Ellen's show.
good. It's left wing swill.
I actually watched the shows as well, and was looking forward to the rest...
Oh well, 24 will be on in January...
I did watch SKELETONS ON THE SAHARA last night on the History Channel.
One heck of a story.
I liked her in "Saving Silverman".
Some network executive (I predict) will be quoted as follows: "In retrospect, Studio 60 could have been a success, but we held back too much. If we had bashed Christians more, I think it would have taken off. I do have a new show in development ..."
Weren't they trying to get her another sitcom? I heard one was in the works well over a year ago.
I watched the first episode of Studio 60 and looked in on a couple. They try the we're not bashing Christians angle so much that they actually are. I don't see where they're going with this idea which had limited possibilities from the start.
One of the few new TV shows worth watching. Wood's character manages to be both edgy and engaging, a bit like 'House'. Give the daughter time. I think she provides a good opportunity to humanize Shark's character, like Kim in '24'.
I watched one night of this show. I waited...and waited for something - anything - interesting, or funny to happen.
There was nothing worth watching. A bunch of character talking to each other very quickly because they were trying to beat deadlines. One character pining over the female comedian - boring.
Everything about the show was boring.
I don't think cancellation had anything to do with christian bashing - other shows have done that and succeeded - but those shows were interesting.
This was a big boring turkey of a show.
