When it comes to MSM outrage over pro-Republican TV ads, it's hard to top Chris Matthews. He pounded for days on the RNC ad about Harold Ford, Jr., accusing RNC Chairman Ken Mehlman of "cesspool" tactics and claiming the ad played to white fears of "losing white women to black guys."
Matthews had a similar over-the-top reaction to an ad [see it here] running in NJ that uses a mobbed-up character to mock ethically-challenged Bob Menendez. Here's how Stephen Spruiell at National Review's Media Blog noted Matthews comments:
"Well maybe because I've spent so much of my life in New Jersey... but you know, I have to tell you Charlie, it's an ethnic ad. Whatever else it is, it's an ethnic ad. It's about Italians in New Jersey, it's about the mob. Tying Menendez into Torricelli. They're closing the loop, they're making their point, and that has been politics in that state for years, between the WASPy people like Christie Todd Whitman and the Keans, father and son, running against the ethnic people, they tied it all together: If you're ethnic, you're a crook, right?"
Matthews continued: "What the hell does Bob Menendez have to do with The Sopranos? What's he got to do with Bob Torricelli, besides, they're not WASPs, they're ethnics?"
But when last year a guest on his own show described President Bush to Matthews' face as a "Godfather" who was like "Tony Soprano," Matthews, far from reacting in outrage, drew his guest out to make sure his audience got what he was saying.
Here's how NewsBuster Noel Sheppard noted it at the time:
Matthews: "Howard, is it -- I think it is simple. Was he in the loop, the president?"
Howard Fineman: "I think he's in the loop the way Tony Soprano is in the loop at the Bada-Bing."
Chris: "For those of us without HBO, what does that mean?"
Fineman: "That means he's the Godfather. The Godfather doesn't know all the details. I've compared the Bush family before to the Corleones."
Using Mafia slurs is apparently OK with the MSM, so long as they're directed at the Bush administration. In his pay-to-read column in this very morning's New York Times, Frank Rich has this to say in discussing possible changes in Iraq policy:
"The adults in charge of disengagement will include the Bush family consigliere, James Baker."

Morning, glgb. The second link isn't working. I wanted to review Chrissy's view of southern whites, sitting in their roadhouses, smoking and drinking at midnight and being driven to such a rage at the audacity of a black man hitting on a white woman...oh, sorry, it was the reverse...that they seeth with rage and, shaking their fists at the tv, the scream that, by golly, they're NOT GONNA VOTE FOR HIM.
Sorry about that. Here it is:

I'd like to see Matthews taken on a one-way ride to the Jersey meadowlands...
Matthews is in a race with Paul Begala to be known as "The Other Monica Lewinsky"
Great find! Not that we needed any confirmation that Matthews is a hypocritical madman, totally out of control at the thought that the President's party just might retain control of the house and senate.
This is just hypocritical and selective outrage at its worse.
I just posted something on this subject relating to some Troll posting: Talking Points Memo (RNC Chief Taking Campaign Contributions From Gay Porn Producer?!? in which I made a similar comment.
Why is it when black men "CHOOSE" to date/marry white women, there is nary a peep from other blacks or the MSM, but when an ad suggests that Ford may have met a "white woman" at a Playboy Party (which I don't doubt there might just have been a "few") or that one of the women thought Harold was "cute" (which again the MSM is all ga-ga over his charm and good looks and he has admitted he "LIKES" women and footbal) and suggests he call her--ALL HELL BREAKS LOOSE????
I moved here (Virginia) from Vermont and (while I have traveled and lived in many parts of the country and just turned 63); and while Virginia may not be the "deep South" (whatever that means) it ain't Maine.
Moreover, I have seen more interracial couples (with about 98% being black men/white women) here than any other place I've ever visited or lived and it does NOT appear to be a problem for anyone.
This is all hypocritical, moral indignation at play here and any time one can smear a Conservative with the broad brush or "racism" it usually sticks--especially when you have Hate-mongers like Mathews fanning the flames.
PS I also lived in NJ for 15 years and I don't even want to get started on the Italian/Mafia connection.
get in line....so would half of his 50 regular viewers.....his ratings are about par with the lib/dem agenda....in the toilet....since he is the network spokesman for the lib/dems he just floats at the top of the bowl!!!!!
LOL. I can just imagine. Regarding the Ford ad, it is my impression that interracial dating has become, in my lifetime, a non-issue. Apparently this is not the case with the dem party.
What is Chrissy's weekly viewer average? 300 or 400k? I bet that far more people go to the toilet at any one of Rush's top-of-the-hour commercial breaks over the entire week than watches his show. Do the math.
Unbelievable! And yet Rush is mean-spirited? What classless jerks.
BTTT
Yet ANOTHER example of the MSM/Democrat double-standard. And yet ANOTHER reason that drives me into the voting booth.
OMG, that's a GREAT ad!
so true.....that is basically what I stated....no question of what chrissy's stripes are all about!!!!!
I don't think that Matthews has ever made any pretense at objectivity. He's a former Dem operative, and he's a Dem.
Interestingly, Matthews now flatly claims that he's no longer a Dem:
